Game 2 of the weekend series between the Toronto Six and the Minnesota Whitecaps took place this afternoon. In the first game, it would be the Toronto Six who won the game by a score of 4-0. Here is how the 2 teams would lineup:
All of the scoring in this game would be done in the first period. It would be the Whitecaps who would get on the board first, not even 1 minute into the game. Morrison would steal the puck from the Six defener, and would streak up the right side of the ice. Morrison would shoot the puck at the circles and roof it over Chuli’s glove. The goal would be unassisted.
7 minutes later, the Six would strike back and tie up the game. A shot from the point would take a wicked deflection in the slot, and the puck would find the stick of Shiann Darkangelo, who would roof the shot over Leveille.
A minute later, the Six would strike again and take the lead in the game. Shiann Darkangelo would drop the puck on the left circle. The puck was then picked up by Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who took the shot in the slot and the puck would get underneath Amanda Leveille’s glove. The Six would take a 2-1 lead heading into the second period, and that would be all the scoring needed in this game, as the Six would win by a final score of 2-1.
For the first time this season the Buffalo Beauts and the Connecticut Whale will square off in a weekend series in Buffalo. Here is how the two teams will line up:
In the first period, it would be the visiting Whale that would get on the board first. A bad giveaway by the Buffalo Beauts defender would end up on the stick of Amanda Conway, who was all by herself and roofed a shot over Carly Jackson’s glove. The period would end with the Whale having the lead heading into the second period.
In the second period, the Beauts would answer back and tie up the game. Cassidy Vinkle would skate up the left side of the ice and skate around the Whale defender. Vinkle would drive the net, which was initially stopped by Fujimagari, but the rebound would find Emma Keenan’s stick and she would slam the puck home through the maze of bodies. The game would be tied heading into the third period.

In the third period, the Whale would re-take the lead. A rush up the ice by Marchment would be broken up initially by the Beauts defense, but the puck was bouncing around and the first player to react to it was Alyssa Wohlfeiler. She would feed the backhand pass to Marchment, who was in front of the net, and it was a simple tap in.
Five minutes later, the Whale would add their insurance marker, as Cailey Hutchison would clear the puck out of the zone on the right side, and Emily Fluke would win the race to the loose puck and slot the backhanded shot into the empty net. The goal would secure the Whale a 3-1 victory.

Early in the second period, the Six would double their lead, once again coming via the power play. A pass by Mikyla Grant-Mentis would find Emma Woods. Woods would skate out of the right corner to the right circle. She would be unmarked by the Whitecaps defenders and Woods would rifle the shot over Leveille’s shoulder and in the net.
The Whitecaps thought that they had gotten on the board late in the second period; however, after an official review, they ruled it no goal. The Six would take a 2-0 lead heading into the third period.
In the third period, the Six would add an insurance marker. The pass by Amy Curlew would find Tori Charron going up the ice. She would deke then skate around the Whitecaps defender, then she would deke to the backhand, and slot the puck past Leveille.
