Due to inclement weather, there is no weekend series between the Minnesota Whitecaps and the Buffalo Beauts. However, there is another weekend series taking place this weekend, and it’s between the Toronto Six and the Metropolitan Riveters. It is the first meeting between these two teams.
Here is how the two teams would line up:
There was no scoring in the first period, as both of the goalies stopped all of the offensive chances by both teams. The Six had the shot advantage in the period, as they lead in that department by a 12-6 count.
It would be early on in the second period, as the visiting Riveters would get the first goal of the game. The captain Madison Packer picked up the puck below the right circle, swung around the net for the wrap around and put it past the right pad of Elaine Chuli for the 1-0 lead to Metropolitan.
It would not even be a minute later for the Six to answer with a goal to tie up the game. A nice stretch pass that would find the tape of Taylor Woods, she would carry the puck to the left circle, then fired a shot through Brooke Wolejko’s blocker. Both teams would be tied at 1 through 2 periods.
In the third period, Shiann Darkangelo sent a nice indirect pass off the left boards that found Lindsay Eastwood’s stick in stride. She would skate up the left side of the ice and slot the puck through the 5 hole of Brooke Wolejko.
The Six would hold on to the victory and earn themselves the 2-1 win.
Brooke Wolejko of the Metropolitan Riveters faced 34 shots, making 32 saves; while Elaine Chuli of the Toronto Six faced 22 shots, making 21 saves.
