Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, December 11th and Sunday, December 12th, 2021, plus news coming out of the weekend.

Saturday, December 11th, 2021

Game #1 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Toronto Six

  • In Toronto the Metropolitan Riveters would come to town for a weekend series against the Six, and after a scoreless first period Madison Packer would open the scoring for the Rivs, but Taylor Woods would strike to tie the game at one for the Six. Then in the third period Lindsay Eastwood would score to give the Six the 2-1 victory over the Riveters.

Game #2 – Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps

Sunday, December 12th, 2021

Game #1 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Toronto Six

  • Back in Toronto for the second game of their weekend series the Six would take on the Metropolitan Riveters, and in the first period Mikyla Grant-Mentis would strike to give the Six the 1-0 lead. In the second period Emma Woods would strike on the powerplay to grow the Six’s lead to two. Then in the third period Grant-Mentis would net her second of the game to give the Six the 3-0 victory. Elaine Chuli would stop all 25 Riveter shots to earn the shutout.

Game #2 – Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps

News and Notes

  • The PHF announced that they implemented a new video goal judge system.
    • The league has also announced a new coach’s challenge system.
    • Both will be in place for the remainder of the 2021-22 PHF regular season and playoffs.

3 Stars of the Week

First Star – Elaine Chuli (TOR)

  • Chuli would give up one goal the entire weekend. On Saturday she would stop 21 out of 22 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Riveters, and then on Sunday she would stop all 25 shots she would face in the Six’s 3-0 victory over the Rivs. The shutout would be Chuli’s first of the season.

Second Star – Mikyla Grant-Mentis (TOR)

  • Grant-Mentis would be a living highlight reel all weekend for the Six, and on Sunday she would factor in all three goals the Six scored as she would score the first and third goals, and would also make an amazing pass to Emma Woods for her to score. The three point game would be her third of the season.

Third Star – Lindsay Eastwood (TOR)

  • Eastwood would record two points to move into second place among defenders in the PHF this season. Eastwood would score the game winning goal on Saturday, and then record an assist on the game winning goal on Sunday to help the Six go undefeated for the weekend.
