Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, February 19th through Monday, February 21st, 2022, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, February 19th, 2022
Game #1 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- In Minnesota the Whitecaps would host the Metropolitan Riveters, and after a scoreless first period Jonna Curtis would open up the scoring for the Whitecaps, and then Allie Thunstrom would net a pair of goals to give the Whitecaps the 3-0 lead. Then in the second period Kelly Babstock and Kendall Cornine would strike for the Rivs, but Jonna Curtis would net her second of the game and Audra Morrison would score to give the Whitecaps the 5-2 victory over the Riveters.

Sunday, February 20th, 2022
Game #1 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- Back in Minnesota the Whitecaps would look to complete the weekend sweep of the Metropolitan Riveters. In the first period the Rivs would strike first as Rebecca Russo and Theresa Knutson would strike for a quick 2-0 lead, but goals from Allie Thunstrom, Haley Mack, and Audra Morrison would give the Whitecaps the 3-2 lead. In the second period Madison Packer would strike for the Rivs to tie the game at three. Then in the third period Ashleigh Brykaliuk would score for the Whitecaps, but a pair of goals from Knutson to complete the hat trick and goals from Kelly Babstock and Kristen Barbara would give the Riveters the 7-4 victory over the Whitecaps.

Monday, February 21st, 2022
Game #1 – Toronto Six v. Buffalo Beauts – Buffalo Believes Classic
- At Riverworks in Buffalo the Beauts would play host to the Toronto Six in some outdoor hockey action for the second Buffalo Believes Classic. After a scoreless first period Claudia Kepler would score to give the Beauts the 1-0 lead in a very heated and feisty second period. Then in the third period Dominique Kremer and Autumn MacDougall would score empty netters to give the Beauts the 3-0 victory over the Six.

News and Notes
- The PHF announced that commissioner Tyler Tumminia will be stepping down at the end of the 2021-22 PHF season.
- Under Tumminia as commissioner the PHF she oversaw the deal that brought in a commitment of $25 million dollars over the next three seasons from the Board of Governors, expansion to eight teams for the 2022-23 season, and a salary cap of $750,000 per team, along with other benefits, that will kick in next season.
- A search for a new commissioner is underway, and the process is being led by the Board of Governors.

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Carly Jackson (BUF)
- In the Buffalo Beauts lone game of the weekend Jackson would stop all 36 shots she would face as the Beauts would defeat the Toronto Six 3-0 in the Buffalo Believes Classic outdoor game.
Second Star – Madison Packer (MET)
- Packer would play in her 100th career PHF/NWHL regular season game on Saturday becoming the fifth player to reach the century mark in games played. In the game Packer would record an assist in a 5-2 loss to Minnesota. Then on Sunday she would record two goals and an assist to become the second player to hit the 100 career points milestone as the Riveters would go on to defeat the Whitecaps 7-4. The two goal performance would also see Packer hit the 50 goal plateau as well.
Third Star – Allie Thunstrom (MIN)
- Thunstrom would continue her amazing season as she would record a pair of goals in the Whitecaps 5-2 victory over the Riveters on Saturday. Then on Sunday she would record another goal in the Whitecaps 7-4 loss.
