News:

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has announced that Nashville Predators forward Ryan Johansen has been fined the maximum allowable under the CBA of $5000 for elbowing Tampa Bay Lighting forward Brayden Point on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd.

 

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has fined San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane $5000, the maximum allowed under the CBA, for elbowing Washington Capitals defenseman Radko Gudas in the head on Tuesday night.

 

  • The Winnipeg Jets claimed forward Nick Shore from the Toronto Maple Leafs, and announced that they have placed defenseman Dmitry Kulikov on injured reserve.

Colorado Avalanche v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p EST Start Time

In Toronto the Maple Leafs play host to Nazem Kadri and his new team the Colorado Avalanche. After a scoreless first period Nathan MacKinnon would score the first goal of the game while on the powerplay for the Avalanche, but the Leafs would respond with a Zach Hyman tally to tie the game at one. Then in the third period Valeri Nichushkin would strike while shorthanded and Joonas Donskoi would score late to seal the deal as the Avalanche defeated the Maple Leafs 3-1.

 

St. Louis Blues v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 8p EST Start Time

In Pittsburgh the St. Louis Blues would come to town to face the Penguins, and 39 seconds into the game Teddy Blueger would score his 3rd of the season to give the Penguins the quick 1-0 lead. Then late in the second period the recently signed Stefan Noesen would score his first of the season to give the Penguins the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Alex Galchenyuk would score for the Penguins to secure the 3-0 victory over the Blues.

 

Ottawa Senators v. Edmonton Oilers – 930p EST Start Time

In Edmonton the Oilers would dominate the Ottawa Senators in the first period as they would through the first 20 minutes of the game out shoot the Senators 10-4, and Jujhar Khaira would strike to give the Oilers the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period the Senators offense would wake up as Artem Anisimov (PPG), Connor Brown, and Tyler Ennis would strike to take the 3-1 lead, but Oscar Klefbom would score late on the powerplay to cut the Senators lead to one. Then in the third period the Senators would grow their lead back to two as Anthony Duclair would score his 11th of the season, and Vladislav Namestnikov would score to help secure the 5-2 victory for the Senators.

 

Washington Capitals v. Los Angeles Kings – 10p EST Start Time

In Los Angeles the Washington Capitals would continue their West Coast trip against the Kings, and it would be John Carlson ripping one past Jonathan Quick in the first five minutes of the game to take the 1-0 lead for the Capitals. However, Carlson would not be done as he would score from behind the blue line for his second of the game as the Capitals took the 2-0 lead in the first period. Then after a scoreless second period the Kings would finally get on the board as Blake Lizotte would net his third of the season, but Tom Wilson would score into the empty net to secure the 3-1 victory for the Capitals.

In Montreal the Philadelphia Flyers look to down the Canadiens. In the first period it would be the Canadiens striking first as Joel Armia would net his ninth of the season to give Montreal the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Justin Brain would tie the game at one for the Flyers, but Tomas Tatar would quickly retake the lead for the Canadiens. However, Kevin Hayes would strike for the Flyers as they retie the game at two. Then in the third period Travis Konecny would give the Flyers their first lead of the game, but Tomas Tatar would score his second of the game while on the powerplay to tie the game at three and send the game to overtime. However, the Flyers would only need 31 seconds of the extra frame as Ivan Provorov would score his sixth of the season to give the Flyers the 4-3 victory.

 

Buffalo Sabres v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p EST Start Time

For the second consecutive night the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs would face each other, and after a scoreless first period William Nylander would strike for the Leafs to get them on the board. Then in the third period Rasmus Ristolainen would strike to tie the game at one and send the game into overtime. In the extra frame it would be John Tavares scoring his tenth of the season to give the LEafs the 2-1 victory.

 

Washington Capitals v. Detroit Red Wings – 7p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay the Carolina Hurricanes would surge in the first period as they would get goals from Sebastian Aho (PPG), Jordan Martinook, and Jaccob Slavin to take the 3-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period both Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson would strike for the Lightning, but it would not be enough as the Hurricanes would hols on to win the game 3-2.

 

Nashville Predators v. Florida Panthers – 7p EST Start Time

At home in Florida the Panthers would play host to the Nashville Predators and after a scoreless first period Anton Stralman would get the Panthers on the board for the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Stralman would strike again for his second of the game, and Aleksander Barkov would strike to give the Panthers the 3-0 shutout victory.

 

Columbus Blue Jackets v. New York Islanders – 7p EST Start Time

On Long Island the New York Islanders would play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the first period Andres Lee would get the Islanders on the board first. then in the second period Mathew Barzal would score to grow the Islanders lead to two. Also for the Islanders both Thomas Greiss and Semyon Varlamov would team up for the combined shutout as the Islanders defeated the Jackets 2-0.

 

Ottawa Senators v. Calgary Flames – 7p EST Start Time

In Calgary, the Flames look to start anew after the resignation of Bill Peters as they took on the visiting Ottawa Senators. In the first period Dillon Dube would get the Flames on the board first. Then after a scoreless second period the Senators would get on the board with a Jean-Gabriel Pageau tally, but the Flames would respond as Elias Lindholm would score back to back goals to lead the Flames to the 3-1 victory.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins v. St. Louis Blues – 8p EST Start Time

In St. Louis the Blues would face the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period it would be Justin Faulk scoring his first goal as a member of the Blues to give the Blues the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Sam Lafferty would score to get the Penguins on the board to tie the game at one, but Nathan Walker would score his first as a Blue to retake the one goal lead. Then in the third period Kris Letang would score for the Penguins, but Ivan Barbashev, MacKenzie MacEachern and Jaden Schwartz (PPG) would all score to give the Blues the 5-2 victory.

In the first period the Coyotes would get goals from Nick Schmaltz and Derek Stepan to take the 2-0 lead, but Logan Couture would score to cut the Sharks deficit to one. Then in the second period Dylan Gambrell and Timo Meier would score to give the Sharks the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Couture would score his second of the game to give the Sharks the 3-2 victory.

The Colorado ?Avalanche would smother the Chicago Blackhawks at home. In the first period Tyler Graovac would strike on the powerplay then Tanner Pearson would strike while shorthanded to give the Canucks the 2-0 lead, but Connor McDavid would net his 19th of the season to cut the Oilers deficit to one. Then in the second period Zack Kassian would tie the game at two, but Pearson would strike for his second of the game, and Loui Eriksson would score for his first of the season to take the 4-2 lead. In the third period Josh Leivo would score to help the Canucks secure the 5-2 victory.

 

Winnipeg Jets v. Los Angeles Kings – 10p EST Start Time

The Los Angeles Kings would play host to the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period Joakim Ryan and Nikolai Prokhorkin would score for the Kings to take the 2-0 lead. In Boston the Bruins would take on the New York Rangers for an early Black Friday matinee. In the first period Pavel Buchnevich would score his fifth of the season to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Filip Chytil would strike for the Rangers to take the two goal lead, but late in the period Sean Kuraly would score for the Bruins to cut the deficit back to one. In the third period David Pastrnak would score to tie the game at two and send it to overtime. Then in overtime it would be David Krejci sealing the deal for the Bruins as they would complete the comeback and win 3-2.

 

Winnipeg Jets v. Anaheim Ducks – 4p EST Start Time

In Buffalo the Sabres played host to the Toronto Maple Leafs and it would be the Leafs getting the first goal as John Tavares would strike for the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period Tavares would score his second of the game for the Leafs, but the Sabres would get goals from Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel, Casey Mittelstadt, and Victor Olofsson to take the 4-2 lead into the second intermission. Then in the third period the Leafs would get goals from Dmytro Timashov and Kasperi Kapanen, but the Sabres would respond with goals from Jimmy Vesey and Jack Eichel (second of the game) to take the 6-4 victory.

In Vegas the Golden Knights and Arizona Coyotes would face off in a tightly contested matchup. After a scoreless first period the Knights would strike first on the powerplay with an Alex Tuch powerplay goal, but the Coyotes would respond with a Jakob Chychrun tally to tie the game at one. After a scoreless third period and extra five minutes of overtime, this game would require the shootout. In the shootout the Knights would secure the victory as Tuch would score on the last chance of the third round to secure the 2-1 victory.

 

Pittsburgh Penguins v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p EST Start Time

In Columbus the Blue Jackets would take on the Pittsburgh Penguins, and in the first period the Jackets would strike first with a Gustav Nyquist marker, but the Penguins would get on the board with a Jake Guentzel tally to tie the game at one. Then in the second period the Jackets would get goals from Nick Foligno (EVS and PPG) and Nyquist (second of the game, PPG) to take a 4-1 lead.   • The Sabres also announced the defenseman Rasmus Dahlin will be out indefinitely due to a concussion.

 

  • The Boston Bruins announced they have signed forward Charlie Coyle to a six year contract with an AAV of $5.25 million.

Then in the second period Sam Steel would score for the Ducks to tie the game at two. Then in the third period Troy Terry would score to give the Ducks the lead, but 38 seconds later Alex Goligoski would score to tie the game at three and send the game to overtime.   • The Boston Bruins unveiled their new third jerseys for the 2019-20 season. The new uniform will debut against the New York Rangers on Friday.

 

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alexander Kerfoot for two games for boarding Colorado defenseman Erik Johnson.

  • Per the CBA, Kerfoot forfeited $37,634.40 based on his average salary.

In Los Angeles the Kings take on the San Jose Sharks, and in the first period Erik Karlsson would score the first goal of the game for the Sharks to take the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period the Sharks would grow their lead to three with two goals from Timo Meier, but the Kings would finally get on the board with an Adrian Kempe tally. In the third period the Kings would get goals from Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar to tie the game and send it to overtime. However, the Sharks would get a goal from Patrick Marleau to end the Kings comeback bid as the Sharks took the 4-3 victory.

Game Recap: New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburgh Penguins 11/22/19

Game Recap:

The New Jersey Devils travel to the Keystone State for a quick road stop to take on Metropolitan divisional rivals in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Unfortunately for the Devils, The trend of poor defense has been playing this team all season so far continues tonight. Pittsburgh would score first as Dominik Kahun would score his sixth goal on the season. That would be the only goal of the period as the Pittsburgh Penguin would lead by a 1-0 score.

In the second period, Taylor Hall would get the Devils on the board as he would score his third goal of the season on the power play. However, Jake Guentzel would score his 11th goal of the season to give the Penguins back their one goal lead. Pittsburgh going into the final period would take a 2-1 lead.

Pittsburgh would strike twice in the third period,as they would get goals from Jared McCann & John Marino. The New Jersey Devils would lose by a final score of 4-1. Tomorrow night the Devils are back in action as they return back home to host the Detroit Red Wings.

In the third period David Pastrnak would strike on the third period, but Brandon Montour would score for the Sabres. However, the Bruins would hold on to win 3-2.

In Florida the Anaheim Ducks look to tame the Panthers, and in the first period it would be the Ducks striking first as Max Jones would net his third of the season. In Florida the Panthers and New York Rangers would trade goals int he first two periods of their game against each other. In the first period Ryan Strome and Artemi Panarin would score for New York while Mike Hoffman (PPG) and Evgenii Dadonov (PPG) would score for the Panthers. Then in the second period everything would get decided as Tony DeAngelo would score for the Rangers, but the Panthers would get goals from Brett Connolly and Dadonov (second of the game) to secure the 4-3 victory.

In Philadelphia the Flyers would look to down the New York Islanders. In the first period the Flyers would get goals from Sean Couturier and Ivan Provorov (PPG) to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period the Flyers would strike again with an Oskar Lindbolm tally. However, the Islanders would strike three times in overtime as Anthony Beauvillier would tally two goals and Mathew Barzal would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at three. Then in the shootout Barzal would seal the deal as the Islanders defeat the Flyers 4-3.

 

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p EST Start Time

The Pittsburgh Penguins would light up the Toronto Maple Leafs for their Hockey Fights Cancer night. The Penguins would get goals from Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin, Dominik Kahun (x2), Jared McCann, and Bryan Rust (SHG) to take the victory over the Leafs. The Leafs lone goal would come from Jason Spezza in their 6-1 defeat to the Penguins.

In St. Louis the Blues would take on the Anaheim Ducks. In the first period the Ducks would get goals from Ryan Getzlaf and Derek Grant. then in the second period Grant would score his second of the game for the Ducks, but Vince Dunn would strike for the Blues. Then in the third period Grant would complete the hat trick as the Ducks would go on to defeat the Blues 4-1.

 

Chicago Blackhawks v. Nashville Predators – 8p EST Start Time

In Nashville the Chicago Blackhawks would tame the Predators. In the first period the Blackhawks would get goals from Erik Gustafsson and Dominik Kubalik. Then in the second period the Blackhawks would pile on with goals from Brent Seabrook and David Kampf. In the third the Predators would get a pair of goals from Roman Josi, but the Blackhawks would get three more goals from Patrick Kane and a pair from Alexander Nylander to take the 7-2 victory.

 

Colorado Avalanche v. Vancouver Canucks – 10p EST Start Time

In Vancouver the Canucks would don the infamous Black Skate jerseys against the Colorado Avalanche. In the first period Pierre-Edouard Bellemare would strike first for the Avalanche, but Adam Gaudette would strike on the powerplay to tie the game at one on the powerplay. Then in the second period Nathan MacKinnon would strike on the powerplay, and Nazem Kadri would score his seventh of the season to grow Colorado’s lead to two, but Gaudette would score his second of the game on the powerplay to cut the deficit to one. In the third period Andre Burakovsky would score to retake the two goal lead.  The Canucks would stay in the fight though as late in the third Alexander Edler would score to get the Canucks within one of tying the game, and then with the goalie pulled Brock Boeser would score to tie the game at four to send the game to overtime. However, in overtime the Avalanche would pull off the victory with MacKinnon’s second of the game.

 

Detroit Red Wings v. San Jose Sharks – 1030p EST Start Time

In San Jose the Sharks would get the jump on the Detroit Red Wings as Kevin Labanc would get the Sharks on the board in the first period. Then in the second period Andreas Anthanasiou and Taro Hirose would get the Wings on the board, but the Sharks would respond in kind with goals from Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Erik Karlsson (PPG) to retake their lead. Then in the third Anthanasiou would score his second of the game to tie the game at three. Then in the shootout Kevin Lebanc wouls socre the lone tally to give the Red Wings the 4-3 victory.
