NHL Rookie of the Month – Skinner Solid for Rookie Honors

Today the National Hockey League has announced the Rookie of the Month for the month of March 2023.

Stuart Skinner (G – EDM)

  • Stuart Skinner would lead the entire NHL in wins as he would go 10-1-1 in 12 games played for the Edmonton Oilers. In the month of March Skinner would have a goals against average of 2.83, a .908 save percentage and one shutout.
    • Skinner would edge out forwards Matias Maccelli (ARI), JJ Peterka (BUF), Wyatt Johnston (CLB), Luke Evangelista (NAS), and Pavel Dorofeyev (VGK) for the honor.
    • Skinner would also set the franchise record for most wins in a month by a rookie or veteran which was originally established in January 1983 by Andy Moog (9 wins in 12 games played), and would be matched by Grant Fuhr (Dec. 1988), Tommy Salo (Mar. 2003), and Mike Smith (Apr. 2022).
