NHL 3 Stars of the Month – McDavid’s Ungodly Season Earns Him Top Honors

Today the National Hockey League has announced the Stars of the Month for the month of March 2023.

First Star – Connor McDavid (C – EDM)

  • Connor McDavid’s fantastic season would continue as he would record 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 15 games played for the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid would earn the honor of First Star of the Month for the second consecutive month. The month of March would also see McDavid become the 22nd player to reach 60 goals, the first player since 1995-96 to reach 140 points in a season and compile 60 goals and 80 assists in the same season. McDavid would also hit the 300 career NHL goal milestone.

Second Star – Leon Draisaitl (C – EDM)

  • Also from the Oilers Leon Draisaitl would record 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 15 games played. Draisaitl would also hit the 300 goal plateau in the month of March. He would record one hat trick, and nine multi-point games. Draisaitl would end the month of March with an 11 game point streak. Draisaitl would also hit the 100 point plateau in March would make him and McDavid the first set of teammates to have back to back seasons of hitting 100 points each.

Third Star – Clayton Keller (RW – ARI)

  • Clayton Keller would record 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 16 games played for the Arizona Coyotes. Keller would record a point in the final 14 games of the month to tie the League’s longest active streak, and longest for a Coyotes/Original Jets player since 1995-96 when Teemu Selanne had a 15 game point streak. Keller would record three multi-goal games and six multi-point games.
