Florida Panthers v.s Tampa Bay Lightning
Game 4- (TB wins series 4-0)
Game Recap:
With a chance at sweeping the series, the Tampa Bay Lightning look to finish off the Florida Panthers. For the majority of the game, it was a pretty much low scoring affair. The first two periods saw no goals between either team. The Panthers in every period had a lot of shots on goal but had nothing to show for their effort. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was phenomenal in this one. Before we talk about him, let’s fast forward to the third period.
Period three showed us why the Tampa Bay Lightning are still the defending Stanley Cup champions for a reason. At the 6:16 mark, Pat Maroon got the Lightning on the board first as he tipped down a puck out of the air, into the crease and just getting it over the goal line to give Tampa the lead. The Lightning had to really survive the onslaught of the Panthers and survive they did as they were on the penalty kill late and having to deal with the extra attacker. Fortunately for Tampa, they got the insurance they needed with an empty net goal from Ondrej Palat to give the Lightning the win by a final score of 2-0.
Going back to Andrei Vasilevskiy, he was phenomenal and made 49 saves to earn the shutout and help the Lightning advance to their third straight Eastern Conference Finals. Tampa awaits the winner of the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes series.
