Carolina Hurricanes vs New York Rangers
Game 3- (CAR leads series 2-1)
Game Recap:
After getting down in the series 2-0, the New York Rangers are looking to get back in it as they welcome in the Carolina Hurricanes to Madison Square Garden for Game 3. Period one was one where we saw a lot of scoring chances being exchanged Bettye two teams. However, the Rangers would be the ones to get on the board first thanks to a Mika Zibanejad power play goal. Artemi Panarin would send a cross ice pass to Zibanejad who would sneak one past Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta with a wrist shot. That would be the only goal of the period as the Rangers would take a 1-0 lead heading into the second period.
Chris Kreider extended the lead for New York at the 5:55 mark of the second period as he would skate from being the net and fire a wrist shot top shelf to give his team a two goal advantage. Moments later saw Carolina finally getting on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Nino Niedereiter. A fluttering backhand shot by Niedereiter would beat Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin to get the Hurricanes back within one goal. After that goal, it would remain 2-1 in favor of the Rangers heading into the third and final period.
Period three saw New York do a great job of defending hand shutting down the Hurricanes. They couldn’t get much going, even with the extra attacker which saw the Rangers get the icing on the cake empty net goal from Tyler Motte to seal the victory for the Rangers who would win this game by a final score of 3-1. The Rangers hope to tie the series up at two in game four on Tuesday night as they host the Hurricanes at home in New York.
