Devils Fall Against Lightning

New Jersey Devils (17-28-5 39pts) @

Tampa Bay Lightning (32-11-6 70pts)

Game Recap:

After having a good first period, the New Jersey Devils found a way to fall apart against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It started with the Devils getting two in the first period from a deflection goal from Dawson Mercer and a scoring one on the power play after Patrick Maroon tied the game before re-taking the lead and heading into the second period with a 2-1 advantage.

Jack Hughes extended that lead to 3-1 by putting one last Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy for his fourteenth goal of the season. However, this was the beginning of the end for the Devils as Tampa Bay settled down and clawed their way back by tying the game on goals from Steven Stamkos and Alex Killorn. The game would be tied 3-3 heading into the third and final period.

Tampa was able to finish off the Devils by scoring three more times as they got the go ahead goal from Victor Headman, Nikita Kucherov, and Pierre-Edourd Bellemare as they went on to win by a final score of 6-3. I Devils will off for a bit until next Thursday when they return to play against the Pittsburgh Penguins on the road.
