Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, February 5th and Sunday, February 6th, 2022, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, February 5th, 2022
Game #1 โ Connecticut Whale v. Boston Pride
- In Boston the Pride play host to the Connecticut Whale, and in the first period Emma Vlasic would score for the Whale, but goals from Mallory Souliotis and Taylor Wenczkowski would give the Pride the 2-1 lead. Then in the second period Vlasic would net her second of the game, and Kennedy Marchment would score shorthanded to give the Whale the 3-2 victory over the Pride. Abbie Ives would stop 24 out of the 26 shots faced for a .923 save percentage and to give the Whale their seventh straight victory.
Game #2 โ Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- In Minnesota the Whitecaps would play host to the Buffalo Beauts, and in the first period Taylor Turnquist would open the scoring for the Whitecaps then Allie Thunstrom would net a pair of goals to give the Whitecaps the 3-0 lead. In the second period Audra Morrison and Emma Stauber would score and Thunstrom would score to complete the hat trick to grow the Whitecaps lead to six. Then in the third period Anjelica Diffendal would score to get the Beauts on the board, but Turnquist would net her second of the game and Meaghan Pezon would score to give the Whitecaps the 8-1 victory over the Beauts.
Sunday, February 6th, 2022
Game #1 – Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- Back in Minnesota for the second game of their weekend series the Whitecaps would host the Buffalo Beauts, and in the first period Emma Keenan and Jenna Suokko would score to give the Beauts the 2-0 lead. In the second period Jonna Curtis would strike for the Whitecaps, but Kennedy Ganser would score to keep the Beauts ahead by two. Then in the third period Allie Thunstrom would score for the Whitecaps, but goals from Emilie Harley, Autumn MacDougall, and Erin Gehen would give the Beauts the 6-2 victory over the Whitecaps.
Game #2 – Connecticut Whale v. Boston Pride
- Back in Boston the Pride would host the Connecticut Whale, and in the first period Kennedy Marchment and Janine Weber would score to give the Whale the 2-0 lead. In the second period Sammy Davis would score to get the Whale on the board, but goals from Taylor Girard and Alyssa Wohlfeiler would give the Whale the three goal lead. Then in the third period Shannon Turner and Hannah Bates would score to give the Whale the 6-1 victory over the Pride.
News and Notes
- The Boston Pride re-signed forward Mary Parker.
- The Connecticut Whale re-signed forward Melissa Samoskevich.

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Jonna Curtis (MIN)
- Curtis would record seven points in two games played for the weekend, and she would record five assists to tie a PHF single game record in the Whitecaps 8-1 victory over the Beauts on Saturday. Then to close out the weekend Curtis would record a goal and an assist in the Whitecaps 6-2 loss to the Beauts.
Second Star – Allie Thunstrom (MIN)
- Thunstrom would continue her outstanding season as she net a hat trick and an assist in the Whitecaps 8-1 victory on Saturday. Then on Sunday Thunstrom would record a goal in the Whitecaps 6-2 loss to the Beauts.
Third Star – Janine Weber (CTW)
- Weber would record four points on the weekend as the Whale would continue their impressive winning streak. On Saturday Weber would record three assists in the Whale’s 3-2 victory over the Pride, and then on Sunday she would score a goal in the Whale’s 6-1 victory over the Pride.
