News

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Jeff Carter to a 2 year extension.
    • Carter’s extension will run from the 22-23 season through the 23-24 season with an AAV of $3.125 million.

  • The Ottawa Senators signed defenseman Nick Holden to a one year extension.
    • Holden’s AAV in the one year extension will be $1.3 million.

  • The NHL concluded their investigation on forward Evander Kane regarding his cross border travel during the holiday period.
    • The investigation, which was conducted by Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, concluded that there was insufficient evidence to conclusively find that Kane had knowingly misrepresented his COVID-19 status or test results while doing international travel.
    • The League will not pursue any discipline against Kane at this time, and remains an unrestricted free agent and eligible to sign and play for any NHL team without restrictions.

  • The Edmonton Oilers announced that they have signed forward Evander Kane.
    • Kane was signed to a one year deal.

Game Recaps

  • Anaheim Ducks v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
    • In Montreal the Canadiens would play host to the Anaheim Ducks, and in the first period Sam Carrick, Cam Fowler, and Troy Terry would score to give the Ducks the 3-0 lead. In the second period Jake Evans and Artturi Lehkonen would strike for the Habs, but a pair of goals by Trevor Zegras would keep the Ducks ahead by three. Then in the third period Evans would net his second of the game and Laurent Dauphin would score for the Habs, but the Ducks would hold on for the 5-4 victory over the Canadiens.
  • Carolina Hurricanes v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET
    • In Ottawa the Senators would host the Carolina Hurricanes, and after a scoreless first period Derek Stepan would strike first for the Canes and Nick Paul would strike for the Sens for the 1-1 tie. Then in the third period Alex Formenton would score to give the Senators the 2-1 lead, but Nino Niederreiter would score to tie the game at two to force overtime. After a scoreless five minutes of extra hockey it would be Andrei Svechnikov with the winner in the shootout to give the Hurricanes the 3-2 victory over the Seanators.

  • New Jersey Devils v. Tampa Bay Lighting – 7p ET
    • In Tampa Bay the Lightning would host the New Jersey Devils, and in the first period Damon Severson would score to give the Devils the 1-0 lead. In the second period Alex Killorn and Mathieu Joseph would score to give the Bolts the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Jack Hughes would score for the Devils, but Anthony Cirelli would score to give the Lightning the 3-2 victory over the Devils.

  • Vegas Golden Knights v. Florida Panthers – 7p ET
    • In Florida the Panthers would host the Vegas Golden Knights, and in the first period Zach Whitecloud would strike for the Knights and Aleksander Barkov would score for the Panthers for a 1-1 tie. In the second period Sam Bennett would score to give the Panthers the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Mason Marchment and Bennett would score to give the Panthers the 4-1 victory over the Golden Knights.

  • Los Angeles Kings v. New York Islanders – 7p ET
    • On Long Island the New York Islanders would host the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period Quinton Byfield would net his first career NHL goal to give the Kings the 1-0 lead. In the second period Andreas Athanasiou would score to grow the Kings lead to two. Then in the third period Mathew Barzal and Casey Cizikas would score for the Isles, but Adrian Kempe would score to give the Kings the 3-2 victory over the Islanders.
  • Seattle Kraken v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET
    • In Pittsburgh the Penguins would host the Seattle Kraken, and after a scoreless 40 minutes of hockey Evgeni Malkin would score to give the Penguins the 1-0 lead, but Jared McCann would score to tie the game at one to force overtime. Then in Then in the extra frame Adam Larsson would score to give the Kraken the 2-1 victory over the Penguins.

  • New York Rangers v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET
    • In Columbus the Blue Jackets would host the New York Rangers, and in the first period Artemi Panarin and Barclay Goodrow would score for the Rangers and Gustav Nyquist and Boone Jenner would score for the Jackets for a 2-2 tie. In the second period Sean Kuraly and Jenner would score to give the Jackets the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Mika Zibanejad would score for the Rangers, but Kuraly’s second of the game would give the Blue Jackets the 5-3 victory over the Rangers.

  • Calgary Flames v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
    • In St. Louis the Blues would take on the Calgary Flames for the second time in as many nights, and in the firs period Mikael Backlund would strike for the Flames, but goals from Brandon Saad and Brayden Schenn would score to give the Blues the 2-1 lead. In the second period Saad would net his second of the game to grow the Blues lead to two. Then in the third period Jordan Kyrou and Ryan O’Reilly would score to give the Blues the 5-1 victory over the Flames.

  • Vancouver Canucks v. Winnipeg Jets – 8p ET
    • In Winnipeg the Jets would host the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period JT Miller would score for the Canucks and Andrew Copp would score for the Jets for a 1-1 tie. In the second period Miller would net two more goals to complete the hat trick for the Canucks to take the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson would score to give the Canucks the 5-1 victory over the Jets.

  • Nashville Predators v. Edmonton Oilers – 9p ET
    • In Edmonton the Oilers would host the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Filip Forsberg would open the scoring for the Preds, but Connor McDavid would score to tie the game at one for the Oilers. In the second period Matt Duchene would score to give the Preds the 2-1 lead, but Evan Bouchard would score to tie the game at two. In the shootout, Connor McDavid would score the lone goal to give the Oilers the 3-2 win over the Predators.
