Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, January 15th and Sunday, January 16th, 2021, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, January 15th, 2022
Game #1 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Connecticut Whale
- After almost a full month without PHF action the Connecticut Whale would play host to the Metropolitan Riveters, and in the first period Kaycie Anderson would strike to give the Whale the 1-0 lead. In the second period Taylor Girard and Amanda Conway would strike to grow the Whale’s lead to three. Then in the third period Kelly Babstock would strike for the Rvs, but goals from Kennedy Marchment and Shannon Turner would strike to give the Whale the 5-1 victory over the Riveters.

Game #2 – Buffalo Beauts v. Toronto Six
- In Toronto the Six would play host to the Buffalo Beauts, and in the first period the Six would light up the Beauts as Leah Marino, Mikyla Grant-Mentis, and Amy Curlew would score to give the Six the 3-0 lead. In the second period Maegan Beres would strike to grow the Six’s lead to four. Then in the third period Cassidy MacPherson would strike for the Beauts, but Taylor Day would score and Marino would net her second of the game to give the Six the 6-1 victory over the Beauts.

Sunday, January 16th, 2022
Game #1 – Buffalo Beauts v. Toronto Six
- In Toronto for the second game of their weekend series the Six would host the Buffalo Beauts, and in the first period Emma Woods and Shiann Darkangelo would score for the Six, but goals from Kennedy Ganser, Autumn MacDougall, and Anjelica Diffendal would give the Beauts the 3-2 lead. In the second period it would become all Toronto as Woods and Darkangelo would net their second of the game, plus Mikyla Grant-Mentis would net a pair of goals and Brooke Boquist would strike to give the Six a dominant 7-3 lead. Then in the third period Grant-Mentis would complete the hat trick to give the Six the 8-3 victory over the Beauts.

Game #2 – Metropolitan Riveters v. Connecticut Whale
- In Connecticut for the final game of the weekend the Whale would host the Metropolitan Riveters, and in the first period Janine Weber and Amanda Conway would strike for the Whale to take the 2-0 lead, but Kendall Cornine would strike to get the Rivs back within one. In the second period Janka Hlinka would net her first career PHF goal to get the Whale back up by two. Then in the third period Theresa Knutson would score to get the Rivs back within by one, but the Whale would hold on to defeat the Riveters 3-2.

News and Notes
- Toronto Six goaltender Elaine Chuli was named Player of the Month for the month of December.
- Chuli would make 92 saves on 94 shots faced in four games played for the Toronto Six.
- Chuli would post a perfect 4-0-0 record with a .50 goals against average, .979 save percentage, and two shutouts.
- The PHF All Star Showcase roster would be announced.
- And the three respective team rosters would be announced.
- The PHF would also announce that the All Star Showcase would move to Buffalo from Toronto due to restrictions in the Province of Ontario.
- The PHF announced a blockbuster $25 million investment from the Board of Governors.

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Mikyla Grant-Mentis (TOR)
- Grant-Mentis would own the weekend as she would score three goals and record five assists for eight points as the Toronto Six would sweep the Buffalo Beauts in their weekend series. Grant-Mentis would record the first ever six point game in PHF history in the Six’s 8-3 victory over the Beauts.
Second Star – Shiann Darkangleo (TOR)
- Darkangelo would record two goals and three assists for five points as she would move into third in the PHF for scoring for the 2021-22 season.
Third Star – Stephanie Sucharda (TOR)
- Sucharda would have two multi point games as she would would record her first career PHF goal, and record four assists for five points on the weekend. This is Sucharda’s first season in the PHF.
