Six Continue Domination

The second game of a weekend series between the Buffalo Beauts and the Toronto Six took place this afternoon. The first game went in favor of the Six, as they dominated the game by a score of 6-1. Here is how the two teams would line up today.

In the first period, it would be the visiting Buffalo Beauts who would get on the board first. A shot from the left circle by Grace Klienach would get deflected in front of the net and the puck would find the stick of Kennedy Ganser, who would shoot the puck past Hofmann’s glove.

The lead would only last two minutes, as the Six would have an answer. Coming via the power play, Taylor Woods would come up the left side and feed the pass towards the middle. Emma Woods would get the puck and rifle the shot over Berndtsson’s blocker, tying up the game.

17 seconds later, the Six would cash in again on the power play and getting their first lead in the game. A pass to the point from Mikyla Grant-Mentis would find Taylor Woods, who would take the shot. The ensuing point shot would find the tape of Shiann Darkangelo, who was streaking along the goalline. Darkangelo would guide the puck into the net.

Seven minutes later, the Beauts would tie up the game. Missy Segall would chase down a loose puck at the point. She would skate in to the left circle and shoot the puck in the slot. The Beauts would get the fortunate bounce, as the puck would go off Autumn MacDougall and get past Hofmann and in the net.

Before the end of the period, about a minute later from the last Beauts goal, Buffalo would re-take the lead. Emilie Harley would lead the charge into the offensive zone. She would lay a drop pass that would find the stick of Anjelica Diffendal, who would get the shot through the mass of humanity and past Hofmann. The Beauts would take a 3-2 lead after the first period.

Very early in the second period, the Six would once again tie up the game. The puck skated below the net on the left side by Mikyla Grant-Mentis would feed the puck into the slot, where Emma Woods was hanging out. She rifled the shot over Berndtsson’s blocker.

About a minute later, the Six would re-take the lead and never look back. This time Shiann Darkangelo would feed the puck to the left side of the ice, finding a streaking Brooke Boquist behind the defense. She would make no mistake in shooting the puck past Berndtsson, low to the glove.

The Six would double their lead, while shorthanded. The puck was held by the Beauts defender below the net on the right side. Reigning MVP Mikyla Grant-Mentis would strip them of the puck, and charge the net. She would find pay dirt as she slotted the puck home low, under the blocker.

Six minutes later, the Six would add an insurance marker. The shot coming in from Christine Chao, would get blocked in front of the net. The puck would then find the stick of Shiann Darkangelo, who would make no mistake in roofing home the rebound over Berndtsson, who could not recover.

Before the end of the second period, the Six would add another marker. Her second goal of the game, the goal would be scored by Mikyla Grant-Mentis. The drop pass by Emma Woods would find Grant-Mentis skating into the slot, and she would rip an absolute sniping shot over Berndtsson’s glove. The period would end with Toronto up 7-3 heading into the third period.

In the third period, the same as yesterday, the Beauts would make a goaltending change. With Berndtsson coming out, it would be Carly Jackson coming into the game. For the third period, there would only be one goal scored in the frame, and it would be by the home Toronto Six. The layoff pass to the point by Saroya Tinker would find Mikyla Grant-Mentis skating up to the left circle. She would hold the puck and then rifle another shot that would get past Jackson’s glove. Completing the hat trick for Grant-Mentis.

The final score of the game would be 8-3 in favor of the Six.

Lovisa Berndtsson of the Beauts would face 21 shots, making 14 saves, while in the third period, Carly Jackson would face 12 shots, making 11 saves. Tera Hofmann of the Six would face 17 shots, making 14 saves.

Next Game:

The next game for the Toronto Six will be against the Connecticut Whale in a weekend series on January 22nd and 23rd, in Danbury. While the next games for the Buffalo Beauts will be against the Minnesota Whitecaps on the same weekend in Buffalo.
