Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, November 13th and Sunday, November 14th, 2021, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, November 13th, 2021
Game #1 – Boston Pride v. Connecticut Whale
- In Connecticut the Whale would play host to the undefeated Boston Pride, and in the first period the Pride would start off hot as Meghara McManus and Taylor Wenczkowski would both score to give them the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period the Whale would come alive as Emily Fluke would net her first of the season and Kennedy Marchment would net a pair to give the Whale the 3-2 lead. Then in the final minute of regulation Christina Putigna would score to tie the game at three and force overtime. In the extra frame it would be Putigna again as the Pride would take down the Whale 4-3 to remain undefeated to start the season.

Sunday, November 14th, 2021
Game #1 – Connecticut Whale v. Buffalo Beauts
- Back in Connecticut the Whale would host the Boston Pride for the second game of their weekend series. In the first period Emily Fluke would strike for her second goal of the weekend to give the Whale the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Emma Vlasic and Alyssa Wohlfeiler would strike to give the Whale the 3-0 lead. Kayla Friesen would strike for the Pride, but the Whale would hold on to give the Pride their first loss of the season with the 3-1 victory.

Standings

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Kennedy Marchment (CTW)
- Marchment would be an integral part to the Whale eventually toppling the Pride. On Saturday night she would score her first two career PHF goals and record an assist in the Whale’s overtime loss to the Pride, but then on Sunday afternoon she would record an assist on the game winner for the Whale.
Second Star – Christina Putigna (BOS)
- Putigna would bail out the Pride and extend their winning streak to three games to start the 2021-22 season as she would score the game tying goal and the overtime winner to to give the Pride the victory. Putigna would also record an assist on Saturday in the Pride’s comeback victory.
Third Star – Emma Vlasic (CTW)
- Vlasic would be a key player for the Whale. On Saturday she would have two assists, and then on Sunday she would score the game winning goal to hand the Pride their first loss of the season and give the Whale their second win of the season which moved them into second place.
