Today the National Hockey League has announced the 3 Stars of the Month for the month of October 2021.
Alex Ovechkin (LW – WAS)
- Ovechkin would lead the NHL in goals with nine for the month of October as he continues his chase for Wayne Gretzky’s all time goal record. On opening night Ovechkin would net a powerplay goal and a shorthanded tally to pass Marcel Dionne for fifth on the goals scoring list. He would then score seven more times to bring him within two goals of fourth place and Brett Hull (741).
- Ovechkin would also record six assists to give him 15 points in nine games played for the Washington Capitals.

Connor McDavid (C – EDM)
- Connor McDavid would lead the League in scoring as he would record seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in seven games played for the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid would find the scoresheet in all seven games he played in and would have six consecutive multi-point games that would see him produce 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points.
- McDavid would also record a hat trick, the tenth of his career, and his 200th career NHL goal.

Frederik Andersen (G – CAR)
- Frederik Andersen would be perfect between the pipes for the Carolina Hurricanes as he would go a perfect 7-0-0. Andersen would also post a 1.29 goals against average, .956 save percentage, and one shutout as the Canes would go a perfect 8-0-0 to start the 2021-22 season.
- Andersen has become the fourth goaltender in NHL history to win their first seven games to start the season with a new team.
