Isles Close Out The Series

Game 6 of the series between the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders took place tonight. The Bruins are looking to force a Game 7, while the Islanders are looking to close out the series and prepare to face the Lightning in the next round. Here’s how the two teams world line up:

In the first period, it would be the Islanders who would take advantage of the home crowd and get the early momentum. It would pay off, as the Isles would grab the first goal of the game. The goal was scored by Travis Zajac, it would be his first of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from Noah Dobson and JG Pageau.

Late in the period would find the Bruins on the power play. They would eventually convert on it and tie the game up. The goal was scored by Brad Marchand, it was his seventh goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from David Pastrnak and David Krejci. The period would end with both teams tied at 1.

Early in the second period, the Islanders would re-establish the lead, the goal coming from Brock Nelson, it was his fifth goal of the playoffs. Assists on the play would come from Josh Bailey and Nick Leddy. 6 minutes later, Brock Nelson world score his second goal of the game and his sixth goal of the playoffs. The lone assist would come from Josh Bailey, as it would give the Islanders a two goal lead.

The Islanders would further extend their lead, the goal would come from Kyle Palmieri, his seventh goal of the playoffs. The play was unassisted, and the Islanders would take a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.

Early in the third, the Bruins would try to mount a comeback. They found themselves on the power play again, and would convert on it again. Brad Marchand would score his second of the game, and eighth of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from David Krejci and Charlie McAvoy.

That would be the closest the Bruins would come, as the Islanders would score two empty net goals to seal the deal. The first empty net goal was scored by Cal Clutterbuck, his third goal of the playoffs. Assists on the play would come from JG Pageau and Casey Cizikas. The second empty net goal we scored by Ryan Pulock, his third goal of the playoffs, the goal was unassisted. The Islanders would win the game 6-2, and win the series by 4 games to 2.
