NHL Stars of the Week – Hellebuyck Goes Perfect for Top Honors

Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of April 5th through 11th.

First Stars – Connor Hellebuyck (G – WIN) and Melanie MacKinnon (Manitoba’s First Nations Pandemic Response Teams)

  • Hellebuyck would go a perfect 3-0-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .938 save percentage for the Jets. Hellebuyck would start the week with 20 saves in a 4-3 victory over Ottawa on April 5th, and then on April 8th he would make 36 save in a 4-2 victory over Montreal. To close out the week Hellebuyck would make 19 saves to earn the 5-0 shutout victory over the Canadiens on April 10th.

Second Star – Auston Matthews (C – TOR)

  • Matthews would amass eight points in three games played for the Maple Leafs. Matthews would net two goals on April 5th against Calgary in a 5-3 victory. Then on April 7th against Montreal he would record a goal and an assist in a 3-2 victory, and to close out the week Matthews would net three goals and an assist in a 6-5 victory over the Senators. Matthews would become the first player to reach 30 goals this season.

Third Star – Roope Hintz (LW – DAL)

  • In 4 games played for the Stars, Hintz would record two goals and six assists for eight points to pace the Stars to a 2-1-1 week. To start the week Hintz would be held off the scoresheet by Chicago on April 6th, but on April 8th he would record a goal and three assists in a 5-1 victory over Chicago. Then on April 10th against Florida he would get two assists in a 4-1 win. To close out the week Hintz would get a goal and an assist in a 3-2 shootout loss to Nashville on April 11th.
