News

  • The NHL announced their Three Stars of the week and Winnipeg Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck would take top honors.
    • Melannie MacKinnon would be named the Frontline Worker of the Week.
    • Auston Matthews (TOR) and Roope Hintz (DAL) would round out the rest of the Three Stars.

As the NHL Trade Deadline came to pass the following trades would take place:

  • The New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators would make a trade.
    • The Islanders would acquire defenseman Braydon Coburn.
    • The Senators would acquire a 2022 7th Round Draft Pick.

  • The Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins would make a trade.
    • The Penguins would acquire forward Jeff Carter.
      • The Kings would retain 50% of Carter’s salary.
    • The Kings would receive a Conditional 2022 3rd Round Pick and a Conditional 2023 Fourth Round Pick.
      • The 3rd Round Pick can become a 2nd Round Pick if the Pens reach the Cup Final and Carter plays in at least 50% of their games.

  • The Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres would make a trade.
    • The Bruins would acquire forwards Taylor Hall and Curtis Lazar.
      • The Sabres will retain 50% of Hall’s salary.
    • The Sabres would acquire forward Anders Bjork and a 2021 2nd Round Pick.

  • The Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks would make a trade.
    • The Blackhawks would acquire forward Adam Gaudette.
    • The Canucks would acquire forward Matthew Highmore.

  • The Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils would make a deal.
    • The Oilers would acquire defenseman Dmitry Kulikov.
    • The Devils would receive a Conditional 2022 4th Round Pick.

  • The Blackhawks would do another trade, but with the Colorado Avalanche.
    • The Avalanche would acquire forward Carl Soderberg.
    • The Blackhawks would acquire forward Josh Dickinson.
      • Blackhawks would also receive the rights to forward Ryder Rolston.

  • The San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights and Blackhawks would make a three team deal.
    • The Knights would acquire forward Mattias Janmark and defenseman Nick DeSimone.
    • The Blackhawks would acquire a 2021 2nd Round Pick and a 2022 3rd Round Pick.
    • The Sharks would receive Buffalo’s 2022 5th Round Pick.

  • The Carolina Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks would make a trade.
    • The Hurricanes would acquire defenseman Jani Hakanpaa and a 2022 6th Round Pick,
    • The Ducks acquired defenseman Haydn Fleury.

  • The Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings would make a blockbuster trade.
    • The Capitals would receive forward Anthony Mantha.
    • The Red Wings would receive forwards Jakub Vrana and Richard Panik.
      • The Wings would also receive a 2021 1st Round Pick and a 2022 2nd Round Pick.

  • The Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens would make a trade.
    • The Habs would acquire defenseman Erik Gustafsson.
    • The Flyers would receive a 2022 7th Round Pick.

  • The Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs would make a trade.
    • The Leafs would acquire defenseman Ben Hutton.
    • The Ducks received a 2022 5th Round Pick.

  • The Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks would make another trade.
    • The Canucks would acquire defenseman Madison Bowey and a 2021 5th Round Pick.
    • The Blackhawks would receive a 2021 4th Round Pick.

  • The Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames would make a trade.
    • The Panthers would receive forward Sam Bennett and a 2022 6th Round Pick.
    • The Flames would acquire forward Emil Heineman and a 2022 2nd Round Pick.

  • The Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks would make a trade.
    • The Leafs would acquire forward Antti Suomela.
    • The Sharks would receive forward Alexander Barabanov.

  • The Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators would make a trade.
    • The Predators would acquire defenseman Erik Gudbranson.
    • The Senators would acquire defenseman Brandon Fortuunato and a 2023 7th Round Pick.

  • The Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers would make a trade.
    • The Caps would acquire forward Michael Raffl.
      • The Flyers will retain 25% of Raffl’s salary.
    • The Flyers would receive Vegas’ 2021 5th Round Pick.

  • The Vancouver Canucks and Winnipeg Jets would make a trade.
    • The Jets would acquire defenseman Jordie Benn.
    • The Canucks would receive a 2021 6th Round Pick.

We would also see a couple signings as well.

  • The Los Angeles Kings would re-sign forward Alex Iafallo to a Four year deal worth $16 million.
    • Iafallo’s AAV will be $4 million per season.

  • The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed forward Scott Laughton to a Five year deal worth $15 million.
    • Laughton will carry an AAV of $3 million per season.

Game Recaps

  • Detroit Red Wings v. Carolina Hurricanes – 7p ET
    • In Carolina celebrating Jordan Staal’s 1000th NHL game, the Hurricanes would host the Detroit Red Wings. After two scoreless periods Adam Erne would net the 20,000th goal in Red Wings franchise history and Filip Zadina would score to give the Wings the 2-0 lead. Nino Niederreiter would strike for the Canes, but Sam Gagner would hit the empty netter to give teh Red Wings the 3-1 victory.

  • Chicago Blackhawks v. Columbus Blue Jackets – 7p ET
    • In Columbus the Blue Jackets would host the Chicago Blackhawks, and in the first period Stefan Matteau would strike for the Jackets and Duncan Keith would score for the Blackhawks to tie the game at one. Then in the second period Patrik Laine would strike to give the Jackets the 2-1 lead. In the third period Philipp Kurashev and Brett Connolly would score for the Blackhawks to take the lead, but Laine’s second of the game would send the game to overtime tied at three. In the extra frame Brandon Hagel would strike to give the Blackhawks the 4-3 victory.

  • Toronto Maple Leafs v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p ET
    • In Montreal the Toronto Maple Leafs would come to town to take on the Canadiens. In the first period Tomas Tatar and Nick Suzuki would strike to give the Habs the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Auston Matthews and John Tavares would strike for the Leafs, but Josh Anderson’s 15th of the season would keep Montreal in the lead. in the Third period Tatar would net his second of the game to give the Canadiens the 4-2 victory.

  • Winnipeg Jets v. Ottawa Senators – 7p ET
    • In Ottawa the Senators would host the Winnipeg Jets, and in the first period Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers would score for the Jets, and Brady Tkachuk and Connor Brown would strike for the Sens to tie the game at two. Then after a scoreless second period Evgenii Dadonov and Tkachuk would score to give the Senators the 4-2 victory.

  • St. Louis Blues v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
    • Postponed

  • Arizona Coyotes v. Colorado Avalanche – 9p ET
    • In Denver, the Coyotes will look to stop the Avalanche and in the first period, Brandon Saad opens up the scoring as the Avs take the 1-0 lead. In the second, Nathan MacKinnon nets his 17th goal on the season and and Mikko Rantanen nets his 24th as Colorado takes the 3-0 lead. In the third, Arizona gets on the board when Michael Bunting gets his sixth goal and Johan Larsson gets his seventh as the Coyotes come within a goal. Rantanen gets his second goal of the night and the Avs go on to double up the Yotes with the 4-2 win.

  • Vancouver Canucks v. Edmonton Oilers – Postponed

  • Vegas Golden Knights v. Los Angeles Kings – 10p ET
    • In the City of Angels the Kings look to down the Golden Knights and in the first L.A. gets on the board first when Austin Wagner gets his fourth goal of the season. In the second, Anze Kopitar gets his ninth on the season to give the Kings the 2-0 lead. Vegas gets on the board when Nicolas Roy gets his third on the season and Mark Stone ties the game up with 27 seconds left with Stone’s 13th of the year. As the contest shifts to the third, Alex Tuch gets his 14th on the year and Max Pacioretty scores his 20th goal of the season and earned his 300th career goal as Vegas doubles up the Kings with a 4-2 win.

  • Anaheim Ducks v. San Jose Sharks – 10:30p ET
    • In San Jose, the Ducks look to give the Sharks some webfoot prints and in the first, Anaheim goes on toe get three goals when Max Comtois gets his 12th of the year and Alexander Volkov gets his fifth and sixth goals of the year to take the 3-0 lead. After a scoreless second period, Rickard Rakell nets his eighth goal to give the Ducks the 4-0 lead and shutout victory over the Sharks.
