Tonight the Washington Capitals continue their second game of this three game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes. Washington is coming off a huge 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche and are hoping to keep the momentum going. The first period saw the Capitals dictate most of the play as they had several chances to score. However, neither they nor the Coyotes could score as the period would remain scoreless.
Period two saw the Coyotes get on the board first as Christian Dvorak would score his eighteenth goal of the season at even strength. The Capitals would tie the game up 1-1 about ten minutes later as Carl Hagelin would score off a Richard Panik shot as he was driving towards the net. After two periods, the score would remain tied 1-1 between the Capitals and Coyotes.
Unfortunately for the Caps, the Coyotes outplayed them when it mattered the most in the final period. Phil Kessel would tip in a shot from Jakub Chychrun on the power play to give his team the lead. Washington had chances to tie the game while the net was empty however, they were unable to convert and Lawson Crouse added an empty net goal to seal the victory for the Coyotes 3-1. Washington is back in action on Monday as they finish off their road trip against the Vegas Golden Nights.
