News:

  • San Jose Sharks announced that defenseman Erik Karlsson will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 season due to a broken thumb.

 

  • The NHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Sharks forward Evander Kane for three games for elbowing Winnipeg Jets defenseman Neal Pionk. Kane will forfeit $112,903.23 per the CBA based on his annual average salary.

 

  • The Carolina Hurricanes will host the 2021 Stadium Series on Feb. 20th, 2021 at Carter-Finley Stadium. Opponent to be announced at a later date.

Detroit Red Wings v. Boston Bruins – 1p EST Start Time

In Boston the Bruins would look to exact revenge against the Detroit Red Wings, however, in the first period it would be the Wings striking first while shorthanded with Darren Helm’s ninth of the season. Then in the final forty minutes of play Charlie McAvoy, Patrice Bergeron (SHG), Charlie Coyle, and David Pastrnak would all score to give the Bruins the 4-1 victory.

 

Nashville Predators v. St. Louis Blues – 3p EST Start Time

In St. Louis the Blues would host the Nashville Predators and pay tribute to defenseman Jay Bouwmeester and all the medical personnel that saved Bouwmeester’s life when he collapsed on the bench in Anaheim earlier this week. In the first period the Predators would strike first as they would get goals from Viktor Arvidsson and Matt Duchene to take the 2-0 lead. Then in the second period Kyle Turris would tally for the Predators, but goals from Zach Sanford, Jaden Schwartz, and Jordan Kyrou would tie the game at three for the Blues. In the third period while on the powerplay Mikael Granlund would score to retake the lead for Nashville, and give the Predators the 4-3 victory.

 

Philadelphia Flyers v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 4p EST Start Time

In Tampa Bay the Philadelphia Flyers look to continue their winning ways in Florida as they face the Lightning, but it would be Tampa striking first as Alex Killorn and Cedric Paquette would both tally to take the 2-0 lead. In the second period Carter Verhaeghe would grow Tampa’s lead to three, but Ivan Provorov would score to bring the Flyers back within two. Then in the third period James van Riemsdyk and Claude Giroux would score for the Flyers, but goals from Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov would give the Lightning the 5-3 victory.

 

Edmonton Oilers v. Florida Panthers – 4p EST Start Time

In Florida the Panthers would host the Edmonton Oilers, and in the first period Adam Larsson would score his first of the season to give the Oilers the 1-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Jonathan Huberdeau would score for the Panthers, but goals from Leon Draisaitl, Darnell Nurse, and Kailer Yamamoto would give the Oilers the 4-1 victory.

In Minnesota fresh off of firing head coach Bruce Boudreau, the Wild would host the San Jose Sharks. After a scoreless forty minutes Dylan Gambrell would score his third of the season, and Melker Karlsson would score to give the Sharks the 2-0 victory.

 

Dallas Stars v. Montreal Canadiens – 7p EST Start Time

In Montreal the Canadiens would host the Dallas Stars, and in the first period Joel Armia would score to give the Canadiens the 1-0 lead 62 seconds into the game. In the second period Jordan Weal and Nick Cousins would score to give the Canadiens the three goal lead, but the Stars would climb back into it with goals from Mattias Janmark and Tyler Seguin (PPG). Then in the third period Blake Comeau would strike to tie the game, and in overtime Seguin would score his second of the game to finish the comeback for the 4-3 victory.

 

Toronto Maple Leafs v. Ottawa Senators – 7p EST Start Time

In Ottawa the Senators would host the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period Auston Matthews would net his 42nd of the season to give Toronto the 1-0 lead. In the second period Connor Brown would score fro the Senators, but goals from Jake Muzzin and William Nylander would give the Leafs the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Cody Goloubef would tally for Ottawa, but Mitch Marner’s 15th of the season would give the Maple Leafs the 4-2 victory.

In Colorado Springs for the 2020 Stadium Series, the Colorado Avalanche would host the Los Angeles Kings. For the Avalanche their lone goal of the game would come Samuel Girard in the second period, but for the Kings it would be the Tyler Toffoli show as he would net the hat trick to give the Kings the 3-1 victory over the Avalanche.

 

Chicago Blackhawks v. Calgary Flames – 10p EST Start Time

In Calgary the Chicago Blackhawks would double up the Flames as they would get goals from Jonathan Toews, Dominik Kubalik, Brandon Saad, Alexander Nylander (two goals), Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, and Kirby Dach to secure the 8-4 victory. Sam Bennett and Elias Lindholm would both score a pair for the Flames.

 

Washington Capitals v. Arizona Coyotes – 10p EST Start Time

The Washington Capitals fall 3-1 to the Arizona Coyotes out in the desert.

In Vegas the Golden Knights would play host to the New York Islanders, and a second period tally by Reilly Smith would give the Knights the 1-0 victory.
