Welcome to the TXHT NWHL Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th, 2019, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, October 19th, 2019
Game #1 – Connecticut Whale v. Buffalo Beauts
- The Whale would get a three point performance from Jane Morrisette (2g, 1a), but would blow a three goal lead as the Beauts would win their home opener 5-4 in overtime off of a Marie-Jo Pelletier powerplay goal.
Game #2 – Minnesota Whitecaps v. Boston Pride
- In a high shooting affair with a total of 100 shots between the two teams, it would be the Boston Pride downing the Minnesota Whitecaps to remain undefeated to start the season.
Sunday, October 20th, 2019
Game #1 – Connecticut Whale v. Buffalo Beauts
- The Buffalo Beauts would cap off the weekend with a 6-4 victory over the Connecticut Whale. Marie-Jo Pelletier would lead the way for the Beauts with a three point game (1g, 2a), and Brooke Stacey would have a two goal game to secure the Beauts victory.
Game #2 – Minnesota Whitecaps v. Boston Pride
- The Boston Pride sweep their weekend series with the Minnesota Whitecaps to remain undefeated to start the 2019-20 NWHL season.
Players of the Week
- Goaltender Lovisa Selander of the Boston Pride and forward Brooke Stacey of the Buffalo Beauts are the VEDA Players of the Week in the NWHL.
- Lovisa Selander (G, Boston Pride) would go a perfect 2-0 for the Pride as she would stop 47 shots in a 3-1 victory on Saturday that would see her take first star honors, and then on Sunday she would stop 35 shots as Boston would complete the sweep of Minnesota in a 5-2 victory.
- Brooke Stacey (F, Buffalo Beauts) would lead the Beauts to back to back victories over Connecticut with three goals and one assist for the weekend. Stacey has recorded at least a point in every game the Beauts have played this season so far.
