Good Evening Devils fans! Tonight your New Jersey Devils head into Manhattan to take on the New York Rangers as the “Hudson River Rivalry” continues. The first period sure showed a lot of offensive flair as both teams combined to score five goals. The Rangers got on the board first as Artemi Panarin blasted a shot it from the right faceoff circle for his twenty fourth goal of the season. Moments laters while short handed, the Devils tied the game on a short handed goal from Kevin Rooney. Tony D’Angelo and Chris Kreider each scored the other goals for the Rangers. Blake Coleman would tip in a Damon Severson shot to get the Devils within one goal. After the first period, the Rangers would lead 3-2 over the Devils.

Blake Coleman would score again and tie things up almost midway through period two. Coleman now has fifteen goals on the season. However, things would go downhill for the Devils the rest of the way. Tony D’Angelo would complete the hat trick at even strength and on the power play. New Jersey pulled started MacKenzie Blackwood in favor or backup goalie Louis Domingue. The Rangers took a 5-3 lead going into the final period. 

For good measure, the Rangers added on another goal as Jesper Fast would score his seventh goal of the season. the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-3. The Devils are back in action Saturday night as they take on the league leading Washington Capitals

Good evening Devils fans! Tonight your anew Jersey Devils host one of their longtime division rivals in the New York Islanders. The first few minutes saw each team feel each other out however, it would be the Islanders who would get the first goal of the game from Casey Cizikas. Moments later, PK Subban would tie the game up 1-1 for the Devils as he blasted a shot from the right circle on a pass from winger Miles Wood. Unfortunately or the Devils, the Islanders got their lead back as Jordan Eberle scored his fourth goal of the season. After the first period, the Islanders would have a 2-1 lead over the Devils.

Late in the second period saw the Devils even up the score 2-2 as Nico Hischier would score his tenth goal of the season.

About midway through period three, Kyle Palmieri gave the Devils their first lead of the game as he would score his sixteenth goal of the season. However, it wasn’t enough as Tom Kunhakl would add his third goal of the season to tie the game 3-3 and force overtime between the two teams.

In overtime it would be Anders Lee for the Islanders who got to play the hero as he scored the game winner and thirteenth goal of the season. Tonight continues the Devils inability to hold onto or add onto leads in close games. New Jersey heads out for a brief two game road trip beginning on Thursday as they take a quick trip across the Hudson River to take in their rivals the New York Rangers.

Good evening Devils fans! Tonight your New Jersey Devils host the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately for the Devils they ran into the buzz saw known as the Avalanche from the Western Conference. The first period was good for the Devils as they were able to keep the Avs off the scoreboard and the game would remain scoreless going into the second period.

However, Colorado would exert themselves as they would score twice. Avalanche goals came from Ian Cole and star winger Miko Rantanen who scored twice. After the second period, the Colorado Avalanche would lead 2-0 over the New Jersey Devils.

The Devils finally got on the board as Blake Coleman continues his strong season scoring his thirteenth goal of the season. Pierre Eduard Bellmare would give the Avs back their three goal advantage. That was until Devils rookie Jesper Boqvist tipped in a Sami Vatanen shot to get the Devils within two goals. However, it wasn’t enough as Miko Rantanen would complete the hat trick for his third goal of the evening scoring an empty net goal as the Avalanche would win by a final score of 5-2. The Devils return to action on Tuesday night as they host the New York Islanders.

Tonight is the Devils first game of 2020 as they venture out to Long Island as they take on Metropolitan division rivals in the New York Islanders. This game would be a very tight defensive and low scoring game between the two teams. Period one was scoreless with each team trading some offensive chances but being unable to convert them.

Period two saw the Islanders get on the scoreboard first as Brock Nelson would score his fifteenth goal of the season. However, with about a minute and a half left in the second period, Devils defenseman PK Subban would blast a shot from the point off a set faceoff play to the the game at 1-1. That would be the score heading into the third and final period.

In the third period, Nico Hischier would score the game winning goal as he would take the puck after a faceoff and drive it to the front of the net and put it behind Islanders goalie Semyon Varlamov to give the Devils a 2-1 lead. The Islanders came close several times to tying the game in the final seconds but it was not enough as the Devils go onto win by a final score of 2-1. New Jersey is back in action on Saturday night as they take on the Colorado Avalanche.

Happy New Year! This afternoon, the New Jersey Devils take on the Boston Bruins in an early matinee matchup before all the New Years Eve festivities begin. Brad Marchand would open up the scoring early for the Bruins as he would score his twentieth goal of the season on the power play. It would be the only goal of the first period as the Bruins would lead 1-0.

Joakim Nordstrom would add his fourth goal on the season early in the second period to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead. Moments later, Blake Coleman would score his twelfth goal on the season to get the Devils within one goal. After two periods, the Bruins take a 2-1 lead into the third period over the Devils.

New Jersey was able to tie the game up at 2-2 as Jesper Bratt would tip in a shot from the point by PK Subban. The tying goal would see some overtime hockey between the two teams. Each team traded their chances offensively but were unable to capitalize on them. The game would head to a shootout where Damon Severson would score the shoutout winner & MacKenzie Blackwood would make some amazing saves to give the Devils a win 3-2 win to close out 2019 and into a new decade! The Devils are back in action Thursday night as they head out to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders. Happy New Year Devils fans!

Happy Sunday Devils fans! Your New Jersey Devils are back in action tonight on the road against the Ottawa Senators. New Jersey previously played on Friday night as they lost in overtime to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Nico Hischier would get the Devils on the board first as he deflected a Sami Vatanen shot from the point on the power play. Hischier’s goal would be the only one as the Devils would take a 1-0 leading going into period two.

However, Ottawa would struck twice to get their first lead of the game. Senators goals came from Nick Paul and Artem Anisimov to give the Sens a 2-1 lead. New Jersey was able to tie the game as Nikita Gusev would score his seventh goal of the season on a five on three power play. Miles Wood gave the Devils the lead back as Wayne Simmonds flipped the puck over the center line to Wood who would score on a semi breakaway. The Devils would lead the Senators 3-2 after two periods.

Unfortunately for the Devils, they couldn’t hold onto another lead as the Senators tied things up 3-3 late on Thomas Chabot‘s fourth goal of the season. However, in overtime it would be the youngster Jack Hughes would get a breakaway and score the game winner. The Devils win by a final score of 4-3. New Jersey is back in action on New Years Eve against the Boston Bruins for an early matinee matchup.

After being off for the NHL’s holiday break, the New Jersey Devils are back in action tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was a game of speed, skill, & scoring between these two teams. New Jersey would score first as Nico Hischier added his seventh goal on the season which was assisted by Jesper Bratt & Kyle Palmieri. However, Toronto would strike twice quickly towards the end of the first period as they got goals from Zach Hyman and Ilya Mikheyev. After the first period, the Devils would trail the Maple Leafs 2-1.

Nikita Gusev would add his sixth goal on the season early in the second period to even the score up 2-2. Kasperi Kapanen of the Leafs would give his team back the lead moments later. However, the Devils top line gave the Devils their first lead of the game as they got goals from Kyle Palmieri and Jesper Bratt. After two periods, the Devils would lead 4-3.

Unfortunately for the Devils, the season long theme of being unable to protect a lead continues. Maple Leafs captain John Tavares would tip in a William Nylander shot you tie the game at 4-4 to force overtime.

Speaking of William Nylander, he would be the overtime hero and would give the Maple Leafs the victory by a final score of 5-4. The Devils are back in action this Sunday for a later afternoon matchup with the Ottawa Senators as they travel north of the border.

Good evening Devils fans and Happy Holidays! Tonight is the Devils final game as the NHL’s holiday break begins tomorrow. The Devils are in the “Windy City” to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. Zack Smith would open up the scoring for the Hawks as he would score his second goal of the season. However, Jack Hughes would tie things up 1-1 and the score would remain that way at the end of the first period.

Period two saw the Devils score a flurry of goals as the Blackhawks would give up four goals in the second period. Goals coming from PK Subban, Damon Severson, John Hayden, & Travis Zajac which gave the Devils a commanding 5-1 lead after two periods.

In the third period, things would continue to get worse for the Chicago Blackhawks as the New Jersey Devils would tack on two more goals. Blake Coleman and Pavel Zacha were the final goal scorers on the evening. The New Jersey Devils win by a final score of 7-1. New Jersey is back in action on Friday night at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After suffering a defeat last night against the league leading Washington Capitals, the New Jersey Devils are back at it tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Devils rookie goaltender Gilles Senn would be making his first National Hockey League start tonight. Unfortunately for the Devils, the same story of losing as it’s been so far this season continues. Oliver Bjorkstrand would score twice for the Jackets in the first period. However, Devils defenseman Will Butcher would wrist a shot from the left circle to get the Devils within one goal. After the first period, the Columbus Blue Jackets would lead the New Jersey Devils 2-1.

Unfortunately for the Devils, Butcher’s goal would be the only one they would score on the night. New Jersey as it’s been all season can’t seem to get much going offensively or play effectively on defense. Vladislav Gavrikov would score in the lone goal in the second period. Zach Werenski and Gustav Nyquist would add empty net goals in the third period for the Blue Jackets. Columbus went onto defeat the Devils by a final score of 2-1. New Jersey is back in action on Monday night at the Chicago Blackhawks before the league wide holiday break.

Last night the New Jersey Devils welcomed in the league leading Washington Capitals to the Garden State for a very challenging matchup. New Jersey wore their heritage red, green, and white jerseys. The Devils would get on the scoreboard first as Kyle Palmieri would tip in a Nico Hischier shot behind Capitals goalie Ilya Samsonov. However for the Devils, the Capitals showed why they’re currently at the top of the league standings and the Devils are at the bottom. Washington struck twice before the end of the first period as they got goes from Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead over the Devils.

Blake Coleman would tie things up 2-2 early in the second period on a 2 on 1 play as Nikita Gusev would assist on the goal. Nicklas Backstrom for the Capitals would score another late period goal to help his team retake the lead and head into the third period upfront 3-2.

The third period saw the Capitals overpower the Devils as they got goals from New Jersey native John Carlson, Jonas Siegenthaler, and Richard Panik. Miles Wood did add his fourth goal on the season however, it was far too late to help win the game. The Washington Capitals won by a final score of 6-3. New Jersey is back in action tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena at 7pm EST.
