New Jersey Devils (15-20-6 36pts) vs Colorado Avalanche (25-13-4 54pts)
Game Recap:
Good evening Devils fans! Tonight your New Jersey Devils host the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately for the Devils they ran into the buzz saw known as the Avalanche from the Western Conference. The first period was good for the Devils as they were able to keep the Avs off the scoreboard and the game would remain scoreless going into the second period.
However, Colorado would exert themselves as they would score twice. Avalanche goals came from Ian Cole and star winger Miko Rantanen who scored twice. After the second period, the Colorado Avalanche would lead 2-0 over the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils finally got on the board as Blake Coleman continues his strong season scoring his thirteenth goal of the season. Pierre Eduard Bellmare would give the Avs back their three goal advantage. That was until Devils rookie Jesper Boqvist tipped in a Sami Vatanen shot to get the Devils within two goals. However, it wasn’t enough as Miko Rantanen would complete the hat trick for his third goal of the evening scoring an empty net goal as the Avalanche would win by a final score of 5-2. The Devils return to action on Tuesday night as they host the New York Islanders.
