News

  • The Washington Capitals recalled forward Henrik Borgstrom from Hershey of the AHL.

  • The NHL announced that the Arizona Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings will be playing in the Global Series.
    • The Coyotes and Kings will head Melbourne, Australia for the first-ever NHL games to take place in the Southern Hemisphere.
    • The Global Series in Melbourne will take place on September 23rd and 24th at the Rod Laver Arena, and will be preseason games.

  • With the losses by both Pittsburgh and Buffalo, the Florida Panthers would clinch a wild card spot in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

  • With their win over Minnesota, the Winnipeg Jets would clinch the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

  • Buffalo Sabres v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
    • In New Jersey the Buffalo Sabres look to keep their playoff hopes alive as they visit the Devils, and in the first period Jesper Boqvist would score to give the Devils the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jeff Skinner would score for the Sabres, but goals from Jonas Siegenthaler and Miles Wood would give the Devils the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Mattias Samuelsson would score for the Sabres, but a pair of goals from Tomas Tatar and a tally from Jack Hughes would give the Devils the 6-2 victory over the Sabres, and thus ending the Sabres bid for the playoffs.

  • Columbus Blue Jackets v. Philadelphia Flyers – 7p ET
    • In Philadelphia the Flyers would play host to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Liam Foudy and Trey Fix Wolansky would score to give the Jackets the 2-0 lead, but goals from Joel Farabee and James van Riemsdyk would tie the game at two for the Flyers. In the second period Owen Tippett would score to give the Flyers the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Sean Kuraly would strike for the Jackets to tie the game at three to force overtime. In the extra frame Tippett would net his second of the game to give the Flyers the 4-3 victory over the Blue Jackets.

  • Detroit Red Wings v. Carolina Hurricanes – 7p ET
    • In Carolina the Hurricanes would take on the Detroit Red Wings, and in the first period Stefan Noesen and Jordan Martinook would score to give the Canes the 2-0 lead. In the second period Robert Hagg would score for the Wings, but Brent Burns would score to retake the two goal lead for the Canes. Then in the third period Jesperi Kotkaniemi would score to give the Hurricanes the 4-1 victory over the Red Wings.

  • Toronto Maple Leafs v. Tampa Bay Lightning – 7p ET
    • In Tampa Bay for a preview of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs the Lightning would host the Toronto Maple Leafs, and in the first period Alex Killorn would score for the Bolts, but goals from William Nylander and Luke Schenn would give the Leafs the 2-1 lead. In the second period Nick Prebix would score for the Bolts to tie the game at two, but Calle Jarnkrok would score to retake the lead for the Leafs. Then in the third period Mikhail Sergachev would strike for the Bolts, but Ryan O’Reilly would score to give the Maple Leafs the 4-3 victory over the Lightning.

  • Washington Capitals v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET
    • In Boston the Washington Capitals would come to town for their last road game of the season and take on the Bruins, and after a scoreless first period Brad Marchand and Tyler Bertuzzi would both score on the powerplay to give the B’s the 2-0 lead, but Nick Jensen would score to get the Caps on the board and back within one. Then in the third period things would get weird as both Charlie Lindgren and Linus Ullmark would leave the game due to injuries, and while Tom Wilson would strike for the Caps, goals from Tomas Nosek, Garnet Hathaway, and Jake DeBrusk would give the Bruins the 5-2 victory over the Capitals, and get their 133th standings point to set the new NHL record that was previously held by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens.

  • Chicago Blackhawks v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 730p ET
    • In Pittsburgh the Penguins would look to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks with hopes it’ll get them closer to making the playoffs, and after a scoreless first period Connor Murphy would score to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 lead. Then in the third period Evgeni Malkin and Danton Heinen would score for the Pens, but goals from Buddy Robinson, Andreas Athanasiou, Tyler Johnson, and MacKenzie Entwistle would give the Blackhawks the 5-2 victory over the Penguins.

  • Winnipeg Jets v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
    • In Minnesota the Winnipeg Jets would look to get closer to clinching the last playoff spot in the West as they take on the Wild, and in the first period Adam Lowry and Mark Scheifele would score to give the Jets the 2-0 lead. Then after a scoreless second period Kirill Kaprizov would score to get the Wild on the board, but Mason Appleton would score to give the Jets the 3-1 victory over the Wild and securing the final wild card spot in the Western Confernce.

  • Edmonton Oilers v. Colorado Avalanche – 930p ET
    • In Colorado the Avalanche would take on the Edmonton Oilers, and in the first period Mattias Ekholm would score for the Oilers while Ben Myers would strike for the Avs for the 1-1 tie. Then after a scoreless third period it would be Evan Bouchard with the winner as the Oilers would pick up the 2-1 overtime victory over the Avalanche.

  • Seattle Kraken v. Vegas Golden Knights – 10p ET
    • In Vegas the Golden Knights would battle the Seattle Kraken, and in the first period Michael Amadio would score to give the Knights the 1-0 lead, but Yanni Gourde would strike to tie the game at one for the Kraken. In the second period Amadio would net his second of the game while Reilly Smith would also score to give the Knights the 3-1 lead. Then in the third period Jonathan Marchessault would score to give the Golden Knights the 4-1 victory over the Kraken.

  • Vancouver Canucks v. Anaheim Ducks – 10p ET
    • In Anaheim the Ducks would play host to the Vancouver Canucks, and in the first period Brock Boeser and Andrei Kuzmenko would score to give the Canucks the 2-0 lead, but Mason McTavish would score to get the Ducks on the board and back within one. In the second period Drew Helleson score his first career NHL goal to tie the game at two for the Ducks. Then in the third period JT Miller would score to give the Canucks the 3-2 victory over the Ducks.
