Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of February 27th through March 5th.
First Star – Dmitry Orlov (D – BOS)
- Dmitry Orlov would record three goals and six assists for nine points in four games played for the Boston Bruins. To start off the week Orlov would record two assists in a 3-2 victory over Edmonton on Feb. 27th, and then on Feb. 28th he would record two goals and an assist in a 4-3 overtime victory over Calgary. Then on March 2nd he would record a goal and two assists in a 7-1 victory over Buffalo, and to close out the week Orlov would record an assist in a 4-2 victory over the New York Rangers on March 4th.
Second Star – Claude Giroux (RW – OTT)
- Claude Giroux would also record three goals and six assists for nine points in four games, but for the Ottawa Senators, and to open up the week Giroux would record a goal and three assists in a 6-2 victory over Detroit on Feb. 27th, and then on Feb. 28th he would record a goal and an assist in a 6-1 victory over Detroit again. Giroux would then record a goal and two assists in a 5-3 victory over the Rangers on March 2nd, and to close out the week he would be held off the scoresheet in a 5-2 victory over Columbus on March 4th.
Third Star – Filip Gustavsson (G – MIN)
- Filip Gustavsson would go a perfect 2-0-0 with a 0.48 goals against average and a .986 save percentage along with one shutout in two games played for the Minnesota Wild. Gustavsson would open the week with a 39 save 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Islanders on Feb. 28th, and then on March 4th he would make 31 saves in a 3-0 victory over Calgary.
