Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, February 18th and Sunday, February 19th, 2023, plus news coming out of the weekend.
Saturday, February 18th, 2023
Game #1 β Toronto Six v. Connecticut Whale
- In Connecticut the Whale would play host to the Toronto Six, and in the first period Courtney Gardiner would open the scoring for the Six to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Alyssa Wohlfeiler would score for the Whale, but goals from Shiann Darkangelo, Leah Lum, and Lexi Templeman would give the Six the 4-1 lead. Then in the third period Taylor Dirard and Caitrin Lonergan would score for the Whale, but Emma Woods would score to give the Six the 5-3 victory over the Whale.
Game #2 β Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- In Minnesota the Buffalo Beauts would come to town to take on the Whitecaps, and in the first period Mikyla Grant-Mentis and Emma Nuutinen would score to give the Beauts the 2-0 lead. In the second period Nuutinen would net her second of the game for the Beauts to grow their lead to three, but a pair of goals from Sydney Baldwin would get the Whitecaps back within one. Then in the third period Grant-Mentis would net her second of the game to give the Beauts the 4-2 victory over the Whitecaps.
Game #3 – Montreal Force v. Boston Pride
- In Boston the Pride would take on the Montreal Force, and after a scoreless first period Loren Gabel and Christina Putigna would score to give the Pride the 2-0 lead. Then in the third period Ann-Sophie Bettez would score for the Force, but goals from Allie Thunstrom and Sammy Davis would give the Pride the 4-1 victory over the Force.
Sunday, February 19th, 2023
Game #1 β Toronto Six v. Connecticut Whale
- Back in Connecticut the Whale would take on the Toronto Six for the second game of their weekend series, and in the first period both teams would record a pair of goals as Caitrin Lonergan and Allie Munroe would strike for the Whale while Kati Tabin and Michela Cava would score for the Six for the 2-2 tie. In the second period both teams would get two goals each again as Melissa Samoskevich and Amanda Conway would score for the Whale, and Emma Woods and Leah Lum would score for the Six. Then in the third period Smaoskevich would net her second of the game and Taylor Girard would score to give the Whale the 6-4 victory over the Six.

Game #2 β Buffalo Beauts v. Minnesota Whitecaps
- In Minnesota the Whitecaps would look to bounce back against the Buffalo Beauts, and after a scoreless first period Jenna Suokko would score the lone goal for the Beauts to defeat the Whitecaps 1-0 and sweep the weekend series.
Game #3 – Montreal Force v. Boston Pride
- In Boston the Pride and Montreal Force would go back to battle, and in the first period Jillian Dempsey would score for the Pride to take the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jade Downie-Landry would score to tie the game at one for the Force. Then in the third period Kaleigh Fratkin would score late in the game to give the Pride the 2-1 victory over the Force.
News and Notes
- The PHF announced that in Boston and Toronto the Isobel Cup Playoffs will be held for the semifinals.
- Both semifinal matchups will be a best of three series and will take place from Thursday, March 16th to Sunday, March 20th.
- The semifinal series in Boston will begin on Thursday, March 16th while the semifinal series in Toronto will begin on Friday, March 17th.
- The Isobel Cup Final will take place on Sunday, March 26th at a neutral site location to be announced.

3 Stars of the Week
First Star – Corinne Schroeder (BOS)
- Corinne Schroeder would go a perfect 2-0 with a .978 save percentage for the Boston Pride. Schroeder would open the weekend with a 39 save performance in a 4-1 victory over Montreal. Then on Sunday she would record 49 saves in a 2-1 victory over Montreal to sweep the weekend series.
Second Star – Samantha Ridgewell (BUF)
- Samantha Ridgewell would be perfect in her first start of the season for the Buffalo Beauts. She would stop all 31 shots faced in a 1-0 victory over Minnesota on Sunday to earn her first career PHF victory and shutout.
Third Star – Michela Cava (TOR)
- Michela Cava would record a goal and three assists for four points in two games played for the Toronto Six. Cava would open up the weekend with two assists in a 5-3 victory over the Connecticut Whale, and then on Sunday she would record a goal and an assist in a 6-4 loss to the Whale.
