Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of January 23rd through 29th.
First Star – Claude Giroux (RW – OTT)
- Claude Giroux would have four goals and three assists for seven points in three games played for the Ottawa Senators. Giroux would open the week with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Jan. 25th, and then he would record another goal and an assist in a 6-2 victory over Toronto on Jan. 27th. Then to close out the week, on Jan. 28th Giroux would record two goals and an assist in a 5-0 victory over Montreal.
Second Star – William Nylander (RW – TOR)
- William Nylander would also record four goals and three assists for seven points, but in four games played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. To open up the week Nylander would record two goals and two assists in a 5-2 victory over the Islanders on Jan. 23rd, and then on Jan. 25th against the Rangers he would record an assist a 3-2 overtime victory. Then on Jan. 27th he would score a goal in the 6-2 loss to Ottawa, and then to close out the week Nylander would record a goal in a 5-1 victory over Washington on Jan. 29th.
Third Star – Andrei Vasilevskiy (G – TB)
- Andrei Vasilevskiy would go a perfect 3-0-0 for the week with a 2.00 goals against average and a .941 save percentage. Vasilevskiy would open the week with a 33 save 4-2 victory over Minnesota on Jan. 24th to earn his 250th career win. Then on Jan. 26th he would make 37 saves in a 3-2 victory over Boston, and to complete the week Vasilevskiy would make 26 saves in a 5-2 victory over Los Angeles on Jan. 28th.
