- The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that goaltender Matt Murray will miss a minimum of four weeks due to an adductor injury.

- Florida Panthers v. Buffalo Sabres – 1p ET
- In Buffalo to kick off a day full of action in the NHL the Sabres would play host to the Florida Panthers, and in the first period Colin White and Matthew Tkachuk would strike for the Panthers, but goals by Alex Tuch and Zemgus Girgensons would tie the game at two for the Sabres. Then in the second period Rasmus Dahlin would score for the Sabres, but goals from Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour would give the Panthers the 4-3 victory over the Sabres.

- Vancouver Canucks v. Philadelphia Flyers – 4p ET
- In Philadelphia the Flyers would play host to the Vancouver Canucks for some mid-afternoon action, and in the first period the Canucks would strike first as they would get goals from Kyle Burroughs and Conor Garland to take the 2-0 lead. In the second period Tony DeAngelo would net his first goal as a Flyer to cut the Canucks lead down to one while on the powerplay, and then while shorthanded Scott Laughton would score to tie the game at two. Then in the third period Travis Konecny would strike to give the Flyers the 3-2 comeback victory over the Canucks.

- Arizona Coyotes v. Boston Bruins – 7p ET
- In Boston the Bruins would play host to the Arizona Coyotes, and in the first period Pavel Zacha would net his first goal as a Bruin and Charlie Coyle would score his first of the season to give the B’s the 2-0 lead. In the second period Clayton Keller would net his first of the season while on the powerplay to get the Yotes on the board and back within one, but Nick Foligno would score to give the B’s their two goal lead back. Then in the third period Josh Brown and Shayne Gostisbehere would score to tie the game at three for the Yotes, but Derek Forbert would score and AJ Greer would score a pair of goals to give the Bruins the 6-3 victory over the Coyotes.

- Detroit Red Wings v. New Jersey Devils – 7p ET
- In New Jersey for their home opener the Devils would host the Detroit Red Wings, and in the first period Dougie Hamilton would score to give the Devils the 1-0 lead. In the second period Ben Chiarot would net his first as a Wing and Jakub Vrana would score to give the Wings the 2-1 lead, but Miles Wood would score for the Devils to tie the game at two. However, before the period would end David Perron and Dylan Larkin would score to give the Wings the 4-2 lead. Then in the third period Dominik Kubalik would score his first as a Wing to give the Red Wings the 5-2 victory over the Devils.

- Montreal Canadiens v. Washington Capitals – 7p ET
- In Washington the Capitals would look to earn their first victory of the 2022-23 season as they host the Montreal Canadiens, and in the first period it would look like the Caps would get the 1-0 lead off of an Alex Ovechkin tally, but it would be ruled offsides on a coach’s challenge to keep the game scoreless. In the second period, however, Nick Suzuki would net his first of the season 2 minutes into the period to give the Habs the 1-0 lead, but the Caps would respond as Conor Sheary would strike to tie the game at one, and then goals from Anthony Mantha and TJ Oshie would give the Caps the 3-1 victory over the Canadiens.

- Ottawa Senators v. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7p ET
- For the first Hockey Night in Canada game of the season the Toronto Maple Leafs would host the Ottawa Senators, and in the first period Shane Pinto would strike to give the Sens the 1-0 lead. In the second period David Kampf would strike to tie the game at one for the Leafs. Then in the third period Claude Giroux would score his first as a Sen, but William Nylander would strike on the powerplay and Justin Holl would score to give the Maple Leafs the 3-2 victory over the Senators.

- Tampa Bay Lightning v. Pittsburgh Penguins – 7p ET
- In Pittsburgh the Penguins would take on the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning, and in the first period Steven Stamkos would open up the scoring for the Bolts, but Sidney Crosbby would score to tie the game at one for the Pens. In the second period Danton Heinen would strike on the powerplay to give the Pens the 2-1 lead. Then in the third period Brayden Point would score for the Bolts, but Jake Guentzel, Jeff Carter, Bryan Rust, and Rickard Rakell would score to give the Penguins the 6-2 victory over the Lightning.

- Anaheim Ducks v. New York Islanders – 730p ET
- On Long Island the Anaheim Ducks would come to town to take on the New York Islanders, and in the first period Scott Mayfield and Matt Martin would score to give the Isles the 2-0 lead. In the second period Oliver Wahlstrom would net his first of the season followed by Mayfield’s second of the game, and Anthony Beauvillier would net his first of the season as the Isles would take a commanding 5-0 lead. Then in the third period Troy Terry would score for the Ducks, but it would be too little too late as Robin Salo would score a pair of goals to give the Islanders the 7-1 victory over the Ducks.

- Columbus Blue Jackets v. St. Louis Blues – 8p ET
- In St. Louis the Blues would hold their home opener as they would host the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in the first period Pavel Buchnevich would strike on the powerplay to give the Blues the 1-0 lead. In the second period Vladimir Tarasenko would score for the Blues to grow their lead to two, but goals from Gustav Nyquist and Sean Kuraly would tie the game at two for the Jackets. Then in the third period Ivan Barbashev and Jake Neighbors would score within 20 seconds of each other, and Tarasenko would score his second of the game to give the Blues the 5-2 victory over the Blue Jackets.

- Los Angeles Kings v. Minnesota Wild – 8p ET
- In Minnesota the Wild would host the Los Angeles Kings, and in the first period the Kings would pounce on the Wild as they would get goals from Adrian Kempe, Gabriel Vilardi, and Drew Doughty to take a commanding 3-0 lead, but Jacob Middleton and Marcus Foligno would score to get the Wild back within one. However, before the period would end Alex Iafallo would strike to give the Kings the 4-2 lead heading into the first intermission. In the second period Joel Eriksson Ek and Kirill Kaprizov would score for the Wild, but Kevin Fiala would score against his former team and Matt Roy would score to give the Kings the 6-4 lead. Then in the third period Mats Succarello and Sam Steel would score for the Wild to tie the game at six, but Kempe would net his second of the game to give the Kings the 7-6 victory over the Wild.

- Nashville Predators v. Dallas Stars – 8p ET
- In Dallas the Stars would battle the Nashville Predators, and in the first period Roope Hintz would strike shorthanded to give the Stars the 1-0 lead. In the second period Hintz would net his second of the game 39 seconds into the period and Miro Heiskanen would score to grow the Stars lead to three, but before the period would end Nino Niedereiter would strike on the powerplay for the Preds to get on the board. Then in the third period Jason Robertson would net his first of the season and Mason Marchment would score to give the Stars the 5-1 victory over the Predators.

- Vegas Golden Knights v. Seattle Kraken – 10p ET
- In the battle of the more recent expansion teams into the NHL the Seattle Kraken would play host to the Vegas Golden Knights, and in the first period Keegan Kolesar and Jonathan Marchessault would score early for the Knights to take the 2-0 lead. In the second period the Knights would continue to dominate as Reilly Smith would score, Marchessault would net his second of the game, and Shea Theodore would score to grow the Knights lead to five. Then in the third period Justin Schultz would score his first goal as a Kraken and Jaden Schwartz would score for Seattle, but it would be too little too late as the Golden Knights would go on to defeat the Kraken 5-2.

- Calgary Flames v. Edmonton Oilers – 10p ET
- In Edmonton we would be treated to the first game for the Battle of Alberta this season, and in the first period Mikael Backlund would open the scoring for the Flames, and Cody Ceci would strike for the Oilers to tie the game at one, but then it was all Flames as Michael Stone, Nazem Kadri (first as a Flame and on the powerplay), and Andrew Mangiapane would score to take a commanding 4-1 lead and chase Jack Campbell from the Oilers net. In the second period Connor McDavid and Ryan McLeod would score to bring the Oilers back within one of the Flames. However, we would be treated to a scoreless third period as the Flames would hold on to defeat the Oilers 4-3.

- Chicago Blackhawks v. San Jose Sharks – 10p ET
- In San Jose the Sharks would take on the Chicago Blackhawks as both teams would pay tribute to Doug Wilson, and in the first period Nico Sturm and Logan Couture would score for the Sharks to take the 2-0 lead. In the second period the Blackhawks would come alive as Jonathan Toews would score, and Sam Lafferty would net a pair of shorthanded goals to give the Blackhawks the 3-2 lead. Then in the third period Taylor Raddysh and Jason Dickinson would score to give the Blackhawks the 5-2
