Colorado Avalanche v. Tampa Bay Lightning
Game 3 – COL Leads 2-0
Game Recap:
Heading to Tampa Bay for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final the Lightning look to get themselves back into the series against the dominating Colorado Avalanche, and in the first period the Bolts would start off with some good jump to their game as they would register the first three shots of the game, but then the Avs would shift the momentum in their favor as they would look to get the first goal of the game, but unfortunately after a coach’s challenge the goal would be overturned and lead to a Tampa powerplay 50 seconds later. However, the Bolts powerplay would get cut short as Ondrej Palat would get called for high sticking, and the Avs would strike with their powerplay as Gabriel Landeskog would score to give the Avs the 1-0 lead. Later in the period the Bolts would get another powerplay, but after that one would expire they would finally score to tie the game at one with an Anthony Cirelli tally. Then less than two minutes later Ondrej Palat would score to give the Lightning their first lead of the series as they would take the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period the Lightning would begin to roll as Nick Paul would strike less than 90 seconds into the period to grow the Bolts lead to two. Then shortly after the Avs would go back onto the powerplay and Landeskog would strike again to get the Avalanche back within one, but that would be it for the Avs as the Lightning would become unstoppable. A little over three minutes after the Avs goal Steven Stamkos would strike to retake the two goal lead for the Bolts, and then Pat Maroon would score to chase Darcy Kuemper from the crease and see Pavel Francouz enter the game for the Avs. Then later in the period while on the powerplay Corey Perry would score off of a rebound in the crease to give the Lightning the dominating 6-2 lead over the Avalanche.
Then in the third period it would be a feisty one between both teams, but the Lightning would hold on to take Game 3 6-2 over the Avalanche to cut their series deficit to one.
