Tampa Bay Lightning v. New York Rangers
Game 5 – Series Tied 2-2
Game Recap:
At Madison Square Garden would see the Eastern Conference Final return for Game 5 with the series all tied up at two games a piece between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. After a scoreless and penalty-less first period the game would begin to get interesting as Braden Schneider would go to the box to give the Bolts the first powerplay of the game. After failing on the powerplay the Lightning would get called for too many men on the ice to give the Rangers their first powerplay of the game. While the Rangers would not score on the powerplay, Ryan Lindgren would strike with an off angle shot to give the Rangers the 1-0 lead. Later in the period the Bolts would go back to the powerplay, but once again the Rangers would foil their chances with the extra man advantage. However, before the second period would end Mikhail Sergachev would strike to tie the game at one for the Lightning.
Then in the third period it would be a relatively quiet period, but late in the period Sergachev would net his second goal of the game to give the Bolts the 2-1 lead. Then with the Rangers goalie pulled Brandon Hagel would score the empty netter to give the Lightning the 3-1 victory over the Rangers to take the 3-2 series lead as they head back to Tampa for Game 6. However, after the final buzzer we would get some fireworks as there would be a bit of a line brawl take place between the two teams.
