Avs Advance to Conference Finals

Colorado Avalanche v. St. Louis Blues
Game 6 – COL Leads 3-2

Game Recap:

With the series shifting back to St. Louis for Game 6 the Colorado Avalanche look to put away the Blues, and in the first period the Avs would dominate for the majority of the period, but a Josh Manson interference call would give the Blues the first powerplay of the game. The Avs would shut down the Blues extra man advantage, but with a minute left in the period Justin Faulk would be left uncontested as he would score to give the Blues the 1-0 lead.

In the second period the Avalanche would go back to controlling the play against the Blues as they would force the Blues to take multiple icing calls that would result in some tired Blues and JT Compher would strike to tie the game at one for the Avs. However, the game would not stay tied long as Jordan Kyrou would score his seventh of the playoffs to give the Blues the lead back. after retaking the lead the Blues would go shorthanded though as Robert Thomas would go to the box for hooking, and with their first powerplay of the game the Avs would not convert as the Blues would do a great job of shutting them down, and once the powerplay was over would force a penalty against the Avs to get themselves back on the powerplay. However, the Avs would shut them down to keep the Blues lead to only one.

Then in the third period the Avs would once again come out in dominate fashion as they would force the play, and as a result would make Colton Parayko accidently shoot the puck over the glass for a delay of game penalty to get the powerplay opportunity. And on the powerplay Compher would net his second of the game with one second left on the powerplay to tie the game at two for the Avs. Then with five seconds left in regulation Darren Helm would net his first of the playoffs to give Avalanche the 3-2 victory over the Blues to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years.
