Game 4 of the series between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes took place tonight. The Hurricanes, with a victory tonight could take a commanding 3-1 series lead heading back to Raleigh; while the Rangers are looking to obtain victory tonight and even up the series at two a piece.
Here is how the two teams would line up:
In the first period, it would be the home Rangers who would open up the scoring in the game. The goal coming from Frank Vatrano, his third goal of the playoffs. The goal would come via the power play. The assists on the play would come from Andrew Copp and Adam Fox.
Before the end of the first period, the Rangers would double their lead in the game. The goal coming from Adam Fox, his fourth goal of the playoffs, and his second point of the night. The assists on the play would come from Ryan Lindgren and Andrew Copp, his second assist of the game. The Rangers would take a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
It would be late in the second period, but the Rangers would add an insurance marker and take a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission. The goal would come from Mika Zibanejad, his fifth goal of the playoffs. The assists on the play would come from Ryan Lindgren, his second assist on the night, and Frank Vatrano, his second point of the night as well.
Early in the third period, the Hurricanes would finally break the shutout and get on the board. The goal would come from Tuevo Teravainen, his third goal of the playoffs. The lone assist on the play would come from fellow Finn, Sebastian Aho.
Five minutes later, the Rangers would answer right back. The goal coming from Andrew Copp, his fifth goal of the playoffs, and his third point of the night. The lone assist on the play would come from Ryan Strome.
The Rangers would hold on to win by a final score of 4-1 and even up the series at two games a piece. The series shifts back to Raleigh for Game 5, in what is now a best of 3.
