Washington Capitals @ Florida Panthers
(Series tied 1-1)
Looking to take a 2-0 series lead, the Washington Capitals look to get another playoff win against the Florida Panthers. It was a pretty quiet first period until Aaron Eckblad scored a late first period goal as his shot went off a Capitals players stick and in. Florida wouldn’t be done scoring as Aleksander Barkov would wrist one past Capitals goalie Vitek Vanecek to make it 2-0 in favor of the Panthers after the first period.
Washington would get an early second period power play, and Nicklas Backstrom would call his own number to get the Capitals within one goal thanks to a deception type of worst shot to beat Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. Unfortunately for the Capitals, that would be the last goal they would score for the evening as the Panthers would score three more times to make it 5-1 thanks to goals from Mason Marchment, Anton Lundell, and Carter Verhaeghe.
There would be no more scoring on either side as the Florida Panthers played much better this game and shut the game down the rest of the way to earn the victory and tie this series at 1-1. Next time we see both these teams will be on Saturday afternoon as this series now moves to Washington D.C for game three and four.
