Today the National Hockey League has announced the Stars of the Month for the month of April 2022.
First Star – Steven Stamkos (C – TB)
- Stamkos would record 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points in 16 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Stamkos would set the Lightning’s franchise record for points in a calendar month, and the most by any player since Mario Lemieux (Dec. 1995 w/ PIT). In the month of April Stamkos would surpass the 100 point plateau for the first time in his career, and would surpass Hockey Hall of Famer Martin St. Louis for most points in franchise history.
Second Star – Mike Smith (G – EDM)
- Smith would go a perfect 9-0-0 with a 1.66 goals against average, and a .951 save percentage for the Edmonton Oilers. Smith would also record two shutouts, and his nine wins would lead the League for the month of April.
Third Star – Vladimir Tarasenko (RW – STL)
- Tarasenko would record 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 16 games played for the St. Louis Blues. Tarasenko would also lead the League with four game winning goals during the month of April.
