Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of April 4th through 10th.
First Star – Auston Matthews (C – TOR)
- Matthews would pace the League with seven goals and four assists for 11 points in four games played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. To kick off the week Matthews would net the hat trick along with an assist in a 6-2 victory over Tampa Bay on April 4th, and then on April 5th against Florida he would record three assists in a 7-6 overtime loss. On April 7th would record two goals in his 400th career NHL game as the Leafs would defeat Dallas 4-3. Then to close out the week Matthews would score two goals in a 3-2 victory over Montreal on April 9th.
Second Star – John Carlson (D – WAS)
- Carlson would record three goals and five assists for eight points in three games played for the Washington Capitals. He would start off the week with two goals and two assists in a 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay on April 6th, and then on April 9th Carlson would record two assists in a 6-3 victory over Pittsburgh. To close out the week Carlson would record a goal and an assist as the Capitals would defeat Boston 4-2 on April 10th.
Third Star – Jonathan Huberdeau (LW – FLA)
- Huberdeau would record three goals and four assists in three games for seven points for the Florida Panthers, and he would kick start his week with two goals and three assists for five points to become the first Panther to record 100 points in a season to defeat Toronto 7-6 in overtime on April 5th. He would then record an assist in a 4-3 victory over Buffalo on April 8th, and then on April 9th to close out the week Huberdeau would record a goal in a 4-1 win over Nashville.
