Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of March 28th through April 3rd.
First Star – Connor McDavid (C – EDM)
- McDavid would record five goals and three assists for eight points in four games played for the Edmonton Oilers, and to start off the week McDavid would score a goal in a 6-1 victory over Arizona on March 28th. Then on March 30th he would record a goal and an assist, as well as the shootout winner, in a 4-3 victory over Los Angeles, and on April 1st he would record two goals in a 6-5 overtime victory over St. Louis. To close out the week McDavid would score a goal and two assists in a 6-1 victory over Anaheim on April 3rd.
Second Star – Aleksander Barkov (C – FLA)
- Barkov would also record five goals and three assists for eight points in four games played, but for the Florida Panthers, and to start off his week Barkov would record a goal and an assist in a 7-4 victory over Montreal on March 29th. Then on March 31st he would score two goals against Chicago in a 4-0 victory, and on April 2nd he would score two goals in a 7-6 victory over New Jersey. To close out the week Barkov would then record two assists on April 3rd in a 5-3 victory over Buffalo as the Panthers became the first team to clinch a playoff berth.
Third Star – Semyon Varlamov (G – NYI)
- Varlamov would go a perfect 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals against average, .952 save percentage, and one shutout for the New York Islanders. To open the week Varlamov would make 42 saves in a 4-3 victory on March 29th and 30 shots in a 5-2 victory on March 31st, both against Columbus, Then to close out his week Varlamov would make 27 saves to record the 3-0 shutout victory over the Rangers on April 1st.
