PHF Weekend Recap – Coming for Isobel

Welcome to the TXHT PHF Weekend Recap for the Weekend of Saturday, March 19th and Sunday, March 20th, 2022, plus news coming out of the weekend.

Saturday, March 19th, 2022

Game #1 – Toronto Six v. Connecticut Whale

  • In Connecticut the Whale would host the Toronto Six for a weekends series to determine who would take the top spot in the PHF standings, and in the first period Emma Woods would score to give the Six the 1-0 lead. In the second period Natalie Marcuzzi would strike for the Six, but goals from Taylor Girard and Amanda Conway would tie the game at two for the Whale. Then in the third period Breanne Wilson-Bennett would net a pair of goals for the Six and Kennedy Marchment and Emma Vlasic would score for the Whale as this game would go to overtime tied at four. In the extra frame Mikyle Grant-Mentis would score to give the Six the 5-4 victory over the Whale.

Game #2 – Boston Pride v. Buffalo Beauts

  • In Buffalo the Beauts would host the Boston Pride for the last weekend series of the 2021-22 regular season, and after a scoreless first period Sammy Davis would open the scoring for the Pride, but Dominique Kremer would score to tie the game at one. Then after a scoreless third period Kennedy Ganser would strike in overtime to give the Beauts the 2-1 victory over the Pride.

Sunday, March 20th, 2022

Game #1 – Boston Pride v. Buffalo Beauts

  • Back in Buffalo for the second game of their weekend the series the Beauts would take on the Boston Pride, and in the first period Kenneday Ganser would strike to give the Beauts the 1-0 lead. In the second period Jillian Dempsey and Sammy Davis would score to give the Pride the 2-1 lead, but Taylor Wasylk would score to tie the game at two. Then after a scoreless third period Anjelica Diffendal would score to give the Beauts the 3-2 victory over the Pride to end the season on a high note.

Game #2 – Toronto Six v. Connecticut Whale

  • In Connecticut the Whale and Toronto Six battle for the top spot in the league, and after a scoreless first period Taylor Girard, Amanda Conway, and Alyssa Wohlfeiler would score to give the Whale the commanding 3-0 lead. Then in the third period Janine Weber would score and Conway would net her second of the game to give the Whale the 5-0 victory and first place in the PHF.

3 Stars of the Week

First Star – Kennedy Marchment (CTW)

  • Marchment would continue to produce for the Connecticut Whale as she would record a goal and four assists for five points in two games played against Toronto. On Saturday she would record a goal in the Whale’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Six, but on Sunday she would record four assists to become the first player in franchise history to accomplish the feat as the Whale would defeat the Six 5-0 to take first place in the PHF.

Second Star – Carly Jackson (BUF)

  • Jackson would record back to back overtime victories to propel the Buffalo Beauts to a weekend series sweep of the Boston Pride to end the 2021-22 regular season on a high note. On Saturday she would make 27 saves in a 2-1 victory and then 26 saves in a 3-2 victory on Sunday. Jackson would post a .947 save percentage over the weekend.

Third Star – Kennedy Ganser (BUF)

  • Ganser would finish her rookie season with two goals and an assist in two games played for the Beauts. She would score the game winner on Saturday for the Beauts 2-1 overtime victory, and then on Sunday she would record a goal and then assist on the game winner.
