- The NHL Department of Player Safety announced that they have suspended Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews.
- Matthews was suspended two games for cross checking Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin in the head during the Heritage Classic outdoor game on Sunday.
- Matthews will forfeit $116,402.50 based on his average annual salary per the terms of the CBA.
- The Colorado Avalanche and Anaheim Ducks would make the first trade of the Trade Deadline frenzy.
- The Avalanche acquired defenseman Josh Manson
- The Ducks acquired defenseman Drew Helleson and a 2023 2nd Round Pick

- Arizona Coyotes v. Ottawa Senators – 730p ET
- In Ottawa, the Senators host the Coyotes for the lone time on the season and in the first period, the Sens get on the board when Josh Norris nets his 23rd of the year to take the 1-0 lead. Then the Coyotes take the 2-1 lead after Lawson Crouse nets a pair goals. Ottawa then ties the game after Josh Norris scores his second of the game. In the second, Lawson Crouse completes the hat trick to give the ‘Yotes the 3-2 lead. In the third, Connor Brown scores his ninth of the year to make it a 3-3 game. Arizona then gets a pair of goals from Nick Schmaltz, his 17th, and Barrett Hayton, his fifth, as Arizona goes on to defeat Ottawa 5-3.
