NHL Stars of the Week – Kane Assists His Way to Top Honors

Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of March 7th through 13th.

First Star – Patrick Kane (RW – CHI)

  • Kane would record a goal and nine assists for ten points in three games played for the Chicago Blackhawks, and to start off the week he would record a goal and five assists in an 8-3 victory over Anaheim on March 8th. Then on March 10th he would collect an assist in a 4-3 loss to Boston, but Kane would close out the week with three assists in a 6-3 victory over Ottawa on March 12th.

Second Star – Jacob Markstrom (G – CAL)

  • Markstrom would go a perfect 3-0-0 for the Calgary Flames as he would post a .67 goals against average, a .974 save percentage, and one shutout in his three games played. Markstrom would open the week making 27 saves in a 3-1 victory over Edmonton on March 7th, and then on March 10th he would make 30 saves in a 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay. Then to close out the week Markstrom would stop all 19 shots faced in a 3-0 win over Detroit on March 12th to record his 9th shutout of the season.

Third Star – Anders Lee (LW – NYI)

  • Lee would record seven goals and an assist for eight points in four games played for the New York Islanders. He would open the week with two goals and an assist in a 5-4 loss to Colorado on March 7th, and then he would net his first career hat trick in a 6-0 victory over Columbus on March 10th. Then on March 11th Lee would net a goal in a 5-2 victory over Winnipeg, and to close out the week on March 13th he would net another goal in a 4-3 win over Anaheim.
