New Jersey Devils (17-26-5 39pts) @
St. Louis Blues (26-14-5 57pts)
Coming off a big 7-1 victory in Montreal, the New Jersey Devils look to continue to build off of that and keep wining against the St. Louis Blues tonight. Things got off to a solid start on for the Devils as they struck twice thanks to goals from PK Subban who bombed a shot from the point, and Michael McLeod who drove the puck to the net to beat Blues goalie Jordan Binnington. Klim Kostin responded a minute later to make the score 2-1 and the Devils would lead by that score after the first period.
Brayden Schenn would tied the score up for the Blues at the 5:13 mark for his eleventh goal of the season. Justin Faulk would score his seventh of the year to cap off the scoring for the period as the Blues would take a 3-2 lead.
The third period is where we saw things get wild, especially around the 9:08 mark as Yegor Sharngovich tied the score for the Devils as he chipped one past the goalie on a nice feed to the front of the net from Nico Hischier. Speaking of Hischier, he gave the Devils their first lead since the first period scoring his eleventh of the season at the 11:34 mark. Jimmy Vesey extended it to 5-3 by scoring a short handed goal as he back handed the puck into the back of the net late in the game. At. Louis wasn’t out of it just yet as Brayden Schemn tipped in a shot from Pavel Buchnevich to get back within one goal. However, the Devils were able to add to the lead twice thanks to two empty net goals from Jesper Boqvist & Nico Hischier who scored his second goal of the game as the New Jersey Devils go on to win by a final score of 7-4. Next time we see the Devils will be on Super Bowl Sunday for a matinee matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
