New Jersey Devils (14-19-5 33pts) vs
Arizona Coyotes (10-24-4 24pts)
Game Recap:
It’s been almost a week since we last saw the New Jersey Devils but, they return to action tonight to host the Arizona Coyotes at home. The Devils look to get back in the win column after losing previously to the New York Islanders. Nico Hischier would give the Devils a 1-0 lead as he scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play at the 6:09 mark. Hischer took a cross ice pass from Jesper Bratt at the right face off circle and bury a shot that would beat Coyotes goalie Karel Vejmelka. New Jersey did a great job at limiting the Coyotes chances as they kept them to one shot on goal the whole period. Arizona finally got their first shot on goal of the game with a minute left in period one. It would remain 1-0 in favor of the Devils after the first period.
Despite looking inept offensively in the first period, Arizona finally got on the scoreboard at the 6:50 of the second frame. Dysin Mayo bombed a shot from the point that would get through a screen to tie the game at one for the Coyotes. That wouldn’t be the only goal the Coyotes would score as the Devils unraveled to give up two more goals. Lawson Crouse and Travis Boyd gave Arizona a 3-1 lead as both goals were scored in front of the net. That would be the score heading into the third period.
Johan Larsson extended Arizona’s lead to 4-1 as he scored his sixth of the season at the 8:27. That would be it as the Coyotes stun the New Jersey Devils by a final score of 4-1. Next time we see the Devils, they welcome in the Carolina Hurricanes into town on Saturday night.
