Game Recap:

The New Jersey Devils are looking to break a winless streak of 0-3-1 this evening as they take on the also struggling Philadelphia Flyers. Tonight is also the debut of the third black jerseys for the Devils that they will wear a total of thirteen times this season. Period one was a close one that yielded no score. New Jersey held a 11-9 shots advantage but did a great job of not allowing any high danger area chances to the Flyers.

Jesper Bratt got the Devils on the board first at the 5:30 mark of the second period scoring his seventh goal of the season. Bratt would snap a shot from the right face off circle to beat Flyers goalie Carter Hart to make it 1-0 in favor of the Devils. Six minutes later, Dawson Mercer scored his seventh goal of the season on the power play to extended the Devils lead to 2-0. Mercer would tip in a shot from the point by Ty Smith. After two periods, New Jersey would have a 2-0 heading into the third period.

Period three would be quite similar to the first period as the Devils shut down the Flyers and kept them from getting anything going offensively. Michael McLeod would seal the victory for the Devils with an empty net goal late in the third period which was his first of the season. Goalie MacKenzie Blackwood played very well and made twenty-five saves to earn the shutout against the Flyers. New Jersey is back in action on Friday night as they take on the Nashville Predators at home.
