New Jersey Devils (9-7-4 22pts) vs
San Jose Sharks (12-9-1 25pts)
Game Recap:
Coming off a win on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, the New Jersey Devils hope to keep winning as they welcome in the San Jose Sharks. Noah Gregor got the Sharks on the board first at the 4:26 mark of the first period. Gregor whacked at a loose puck in front and gets it up and over MacKenzie Blackwood and in. That would be the only goal of the period as San Jose carry a 1-0 lead into the second period.
Unfortunately for the Devils, things continued to unravel for them in the second period as San Jose scored three times. Jacob Middleton, Toni Meier, and Erik Karlsson scored to expand the lead for the Sharks. New Jersey wasn’t able to get much going offensively and found themselves in a 4-0 hole heading into the third period.
The Devils finally broke through and got on the scoreboard twice within a few minutes around & past the midway point of period three as they got goals from Tomas Tatar and Jesper Brett to get the team within two goals. Unfortunately it was too late as the Sharks put the game away with an empty net goal to seal the victory for the Sharks by a final score of 5-2. New Jersey is back in action on Thursday night as the head out to the State of Hockey and take on the Minnesota Wild.
