NHL Stars of the Week – Lighting Up the Competition

Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of November 15th through 21st.

First Star – Johnny Gaudreau (LW – CAL)

  • Johnny Gaudreau would pace the League with four goals and three assists for seven points in four games played for the Calgary Flames. Gaudreau would open the week with an assist in a 2-1 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Nov. 16th, and then he would record two goals and an assist on Nov. 18th in 5-0 victory over Buffalo. Then on Nov. 20th, Gaudreau would record a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory against the New York Islanders and spoil the debut opening of UBS Arena. Then to close out the week Gaudreau would net the game winner in a 4-0 victory over Boston on Nov. 21st.

Second Star – Ilya Samsonov (G – WAS)

  • Ilya Samsonov would go a perfect 2-0-0 in his two games played for the Washington Capitals this past week. Samsonov would record two shutouts that would see him stop all 56 shots he faced. Samsonov would blank the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 on Nov. 17th, and then San Jose on Nov. 20th 4-0.

Third Star – Cale Makar (D – COL)

  • In two games played for the Colorado Avalanche, Cale Makar would record three goals and two assists for five points. In his first game Makar would net a goal and an assist in a 4-2 victory over Vancouver on Nov. 17th. Then on Nov. 19 against Seattle he would have two goals and an assist in a 7-3 victory.
