Today the National Hockey League announced their Three Stars of the Week for the week of November 8th through 14th.
First Star – Alex Ovechkin (LW – WAS)
- Alex Ovechkin would record two goals and six assists for 8 points in four games for the Washington Capitals as he would continue to make history in the NHL. Ovechkin would start the week off with a goal and two assists as the Capitals would defeat Buffalo 5-3 on Nov. 8th. Then in back to back days Ovechkin would record an assist in a 2-0 victory over Detroit on Nov. 11th, and on Nov. 12th he would record a goal and an assist in a 4-3 victory over Columbus. To close out the week Ovechkin would record two more assists as the Capitals would triumph over Pittsburgh 6-1 on Nov. 14th. During the week Ovechkin would surpass Brett Hull (741) for fourth place all time on the NHL goals scoring list, and he would also record his 600th career NHL assist.
Second Star – Charlie McAvoy (D – BOS)
- Charlie McAvoy would record two goals and five assists for seven points in four game for the Boston Bruins. McAvoy would start the week with tow assists in a 3-2 victory over Ottawa on Nov. 9th. On Nov. 11th McAvoy would be held scoreless by Edmonton, but he would bounce back a three assist performance in a 5-2 victory over New Jersey on Nov. 13th. Then to close out the week on Nov. 14th, McAvoy would record two goals in a 5-2 victory over Montreal. McAvoy would average of 24:09 per game.
Third Star – Troy Terry (RW – ANA)
- Troy Terry would record three goals and three assists for six points in three games for the Anaheim Ducks. Terry would open the week with a goal and an assist to give the Ducks a 3-2 victory over Vancouver on Nov. 9th. Then on Nov. 11th he would record two goals and an assist in a 7-4 victory over Seattle. To close out the week Terry would notch an assist in a 5-1 win over Vancouver on Nov. 14th.
