The Blues had a tough week, losing their captain, Ryan O’Reilly, for the first time since he was traded to the team – he spent two of the three games on the COVID protocol list.
The Blues started the week playing the LA Kings at home on Monday, October 25. After an uneventful first two periods that were relatively evenly played – the Blues dominating the first, and Kings getting the edge in the second – the Blues exploded for three goals in the third. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the first one on a highlight reel goal. Tarasenko added another with about 4:30 left on a breakaway to put the game away. David Perron added an empty netter to cap off the night.

On Thursday, 10/28, the Blues faced off against Colorado at home without Ryan O’Reilly (as well as Brandon Saad) who were both on the COVID protocol list. This was not their finest game, but still managed to keep it relatively close. Colorado got the scoring started, but upon review, the Avalanche were said to be offsides and the score remained 0-0. Colton Parayko got the Blues on the board with a slapper from the blueline with 10 minutes left in the first to make it 1-0. The Avalanche tied it late in the first on a nice tip-in goal. The Blues started to get a bit sloppy in the second, as the Avalanche scored twice – including one by Nazem Kadri. That set off some fireworks later in the period as the teams jostled with each other – including Jordan Binnington swinging his stick near (but not that near to) Kadri. The Blues got one back in the third as Schenn made it 3-2, but the Avs got it right back. Tarasenko did manage to pull the Blues within one, but thats as close as they got.

Next, the Blues played the Blackhawks on Saturday 10/30. While the Blues, even shorthanded, should have thumped them out of the gate, there was no scoring in the first two periods. The Blues finally broke the tie near the midway point of the third as Torey Krug got his first of the year. The Blues were able to hold on to this lead and win the game 1-0.
