Golden Knights v. Canadiens – Habs Advance With OT Victory

Vegas Golden Knights v. Montreal Canadiens – Game 6
Montreal Leads Series 3-2

Game Recap:

Back in Montreal for game six of their Stanley Cup Semifinals series, the Canadiens look to eliminate the Vegas Golden Knights and advance to the Stanley cup final for the first time since 1993. In the first period the Habs would get an early powerplay opportunity, but the Knights would shut them down. However, on their second powerplay opportunity Shea Weber would unleash a bomb to give the Habs the 1-0 lead. But 48 seconds later Reilly Smith would score to tie the game up at one.

In the second period the Golden Knights would open the period with their first powerplay opportunity, but would be shut down by the Habs penalty killing, and shortly after the Habs would get a powerplay of their own as well. However, despite not scoring on the powerplay Cole Caufield would score to put the Habs back in the lead. The Knights would get another powerplay opportunity to try to tie the game, but once again would be shut down by the Montreal penalty killers as they would keep their 2-1 lead over the Knights.

In the third period Alec Martinez would strike 68 seconds into the period to tie the game at two and send the game to overtime. In the extra frame Artturi Lehkonen would score to give the Canadiens the 3-2 victory as they would eliminate the Golden Knights 4-2. This would send the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 28 years.
