In Game 3 from Montreal, the Vegas Golden Knights in the first couple of minutes in the contest, Vegas is able to get the puck out of the zone a bit more cleanly. Montreal goes to the penalty kill at 6:52 when Jesperi Kotkaniemi is whistled for hooking. At 9:26, Vegas heads to the penalty kill when Keegan Kolesar is whistled for an interference call. Vegas is getting a lot of shots off and creating havoc in front of the net while stopping Montreal in their tracks with the shots. Montreal goes on their second penalty kill when Joel Armia is whistled for a boarding call at 17:54. After the first period, we are scoreless.
In the second period, Vegas goes on the power play again when Shea Weber is off to the box for Interference just 24 seconds into the period. At 3:16, Vegas gets on the board when Nicolas Roy scores off of a Canadiens turnover. 38 seconds later, Cole Caufield scores his second postseason goal to tie the game 1-1. Kotkaniemi is called for another hooking penalty, putting Vegas on their fourth power play of the night at 14:31. With 17.4 left in the period, Montreal goes to the power play when Vegas’ Tomas Nosek is called for tripping. When the game resumes in the third period, there will be 1:43 left on the Montreal Power Play.
In the third, Vegas makes it a 2-1 lead when Alex Pietrangelo scores his fourth goal of the postseason at 2:22. After a bad clear out, Vegas Marc-Andre Fleury allows Josh Anderson to score after the puck deflects off of Fleury’s skate to tie the game late in the third period.
In Overtime, a completely blown call on the officiasls when Corey Perry is bloodied by a hi-stick to the face keeps it a tie game. Josh Anderson scores his second of the night to give the Canadiens the 3-2 win in overtime and the 2-1 series lead.
