News coming out of Danbury, CT today, as the Connecticut Whale are bringing back another player for Season 7. Defender Hanna Beattie is returning for her fifth season in the league and her fifth season with the Whale.
In her combined 4 years in the league so far, the defender has played 54 games for the Whale, in which she has scored 3 goals and added 4 assists for 7 points. She has also played 5 career playoff games, which she also has scored 2 goals. She’ll look to continue to improve on those numbers, as she has also improved on her shot blocking. In the last 2 seasons, she has 18 shots blocked with another 4 added during the playoffs.

VETERAN DEFENDER BEATTIE REJOINS CONNECTICUT
Danbury, CT- The Connecticut Whale are getting back one of their veteran defenders with Hanna Beattie returning to the Pod for her fifth season in 2021-22.
The 26-year-old will bring some familiarity and stability to the Whale blue line having long been part of a defensive corps that has been the backbone of Connecticut for several years.
“Hanna is a dependable defender that we can count on in any situation. Her ability to read plays and join the rush for an extra layer of attack is a huge asset to the way we play as a team,” said Whale assistant coach Laura Brennan. “We look forward to having her return as a veteran leader to the Pod this season!”
The Whitehouse Station, New Jersey native has played in the NWHL since the 2017-18 season, signing a contract with the Whale after she finished her collegiate career at Williams College. Her NWHL tenure in Connecticut includes six points in 54 total games. Beattie was also named to the 2020 NWHL All-Star Game.
“I have had so much fun being part of this organization over the past four years and can’t wait to see what we accomplish this season. Between the effort, heart, and grit that this team possesses, and the dedication and passion of our staff, I know big things are in store for us,” said Beattie. “I look forward to getting back on the ice and seeing everyone in Danbury soon!”
Beattie played four seasons at Williams College, serving as captain during both her junior and senior years. She laced up for 103 games for the Ephs, scoring 56 points (18G, 38A) during her time there. As a freshman, she was named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and was also named a first-team All-American defender. In 2015 she was named to the New England Hockey Writers Division II-III All-Star team.
She becomes the team’s sixth player announced under contract for the 2021-22 season and second defender along with newcomer Allie Munroe.
